About this opportunity:
Reporting to the Canadian Small Projects Manager, The Senior Project Engineer will be responsible for providing project management expertise and leading the coordination, implementation, and execution of key project deliverables including safety, quality, cost, and schedule. The Senior Project Engineer will oversee multiple small projects ($5MM and below) as well as lead and participate in improvement initiatives within the Lloydminster Refinery, Upgrader and Ethanol Plant.

What you’ll do:
Facilitate the project through all stages and gates utilizing Cenovus Project Management Environment (PME) delivery model.
Lead activities including stakeholder engagement, Value Improving Practice (VIP), Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), action management, and lessons learned.
Manage project budgets, project schedules, project risk registers, and quality assurance activities.
Track project deliverables using appropriate tools and provide project status updates to key stakeholders including dashboards, monthly updates, or ad-hoc presentation requests.
Coordinate all phases of engineering, procurement and construction activities with key partners including management of expenditures within approved budget and Total Installed Cost (TIC) value.
Work with internal and/or external discipline teams for design and selection.
Ensure change management processes are followed
Identify and adhere to all safety, regulatory, and environment requirements through-out the project.
Apply standard processes and continuous improvement opportunities to optimize the performance of projects and share key learnings with the team.
Who you are:
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
Licensed Professional Engineer registered with APEGA/APEGS or P.L (Eng)/P.Tech (Eng) or CET with ASET/SASTT
Minimum 10 years Engineering experience in an industrial plant setting
Minimum 7 years multi-discipline project management experience in an industrial setting (process manufacturing experience is preferred).
Good understanding of project controls systems and tools
Knowledge of project delivery methods and practices.
Proven experience with cost and schedule applications
Strong proficiency in general mechanical design and application of codes and standards
Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication and skills
The following will be considered an asset:
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
Experience mentoring, coaching, and training others
This position will require the successful candidate to have and maintain a Class 5 drivers license with a satisfactory driving record, undergo a pre-employment medical and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines.
