The NPI Trades team is seeking a student who will assist in managing and organizing engineering drawings and documentation. This role involves comparing physical drawing binders to the document repository scanning and uploading missing documents. The student will gain hands on experience in document control and Management. This position offers a valuable opportunity for a student to gain practical experience and contribute to the efficiency of document management processes.

What You’ll Do

  • Review and compare physical drawing binders to the online document repository.
  • Identify and scan drawings that are not currently in the repository.
  • Upload scanned documents to the appropriate repository locations.
  • Organize documents on the SharePoint site for ease of access and reduce duplication by consolidating similar documents.
  • Transfer procedures from old templates to new templates using the smart procedures application and ensure accuracy and completeness of transferred procedures.
  • Assist with other document control tasks as needed.
  • Collaborate with team members to improve document control processes.

Who You Are

  • Legally entitled to work in Canada full-time for the duration of your work term and able to produce documentation upon application (e.g., Work Visa).
  • Available to begin full-time work in September 2024.
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
  • Proficiency in SharePoint and Adobe Acrobat is an asset.
  • Attention to detail, superior organizational and collaborative skills combined with the ability to multi-task required.
  • Smart procedures is considered an asset.

Education

  • Must be enrolled in an Undergraduate Program specializing in Document Control/Record, Information Management, Professional Administration, Bachelors of Arts, or Bachelors of Commerce at an accredited post-secondary institution at the time of intended work term and returning to full-time studies after the work term OR registered in an accredited post-secondary co-op or internship program for the duration of the work term.
  • New Graduates are not eligible for student opportunities.

Working Conditions

  • Seven days on, seven days off - 80 hours per week.
  • May include frequency of travel, sitting, standing, computer work, lifting, driving, working at site, etc.
  • Candidates must have their own means of transportation as there is no public transportation in field locations.

Safety Sensitive

  • This may be a safety sensitive role, and you will also be required to wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during required work hours. Furthermore, you will also be required to pass the pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol assessment requirements.
  • Safety sensitive positions require the operations of a motor vehicle. Applicants are asked to provide a recent (i.e., issued within the previous 4 weeks) original driver’s abstract, for the preceding 5-year period, if offered the position. A valid Canadian Class 5 Driver’s License with no restrictions (i.e., non-GDL) is a requirement for this role.
