About this opportunity:

This role is responsible for supporting the acquisition and maintenance of surface rights and processing the documentation necessary for maintaining surface files. The Analyst must ensure that ongoing contractual obligations are met and effectively communicate with internal and external partners. This individual will be required to understand and request/issue consents for third party road use, crossing, encroachment and proximity agreements in relation to Cenovus' assets. There are two roles specific to this position; one primarily focused on capital acquisition and the other primarily focused on maintenance of the asset; while the two will overlap and work as a team; shifting as needed.

What you’ll do:

  • Ensures that all public consultation/notification requirements for British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan regulations have been met, including Surface Land accountable First Nations responsibilities.

  • Coordinates the acquisition of Surface Rights on Crown and Freehold lands (including preparation of Crown applications, coordination of OneStop submissions, drafting Freehold agreements, obtaining & granting all 3rd party consents) and ensures the accuracy of all documentation for audit purposes.

  • Creates and maintains records in CS Land and Generwell.

  • Provides the relevant licensing information to the internal team members as required.

  • Completes maintenance of surface agreements on Crown land including no entry submission, disposition replacements, lease renewals, and follow up on final plan requirements. Complete internal and external notifications and update CS Land for changes in lease status.

  • Completes maintenance of surface agreements on Freehold land including first year payments, caveat and utility right of way registrations, landowner assignments, compensation reviews and notices, address changes, damages and terminations due to no entry.

  • Interacts closely with the asset team, drilling, facilities, construction and negotiations teams to ensure that all projects are coordinated to allow the team to meet its objectives and deadlines.

  • Attaches and maintains electronic filing of documentation in the appropriate file repository.

Who you are:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

  • Completion of related post-secondary education in Land Administration

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of related experience

  • Commissioner for Oaths and Member of CAPLA both considered assets

  • Comprehensive knowledge of road use and third-party agreements

  • Familiar with public consultation/notification requirements for British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan

  • Familiar with land systems (Pandell Roads, CS Land Accumap, Abadata,, SAP, Generwell, OneStop, ISC, Spin II)
