About this opportunity:
Cenovus is seeking a Thermal Plant Operator for their Thermal Spruce Lake organization. The role involves managing water treatment, high-pressure steam generation, sour oil wells, and oil treating facilities. Reporting to the Operations Coordinator, the Plant Operator ensures safe and efficient operations while meeting production targets. Work Environment:
This position is located in Spruce Lake and requires the successful candidate to live within 1 hour of the facility.
This is a full-time employee position working a shift rotation
What you’ll do:
Operate the Facility in a safe and effective manner, while working collaboratively as part of the operating team
Maintain and troubleshoot all area-specific equipment to optimize performance and meet production targets as per Company’s guidelines
Perform condition monitoring, including sampling and testing per area responsibilities, and complete area operations records (e.g., volume balances, log sheets, work permits, and required reports)
Support operations and maintenance activities aligned with the site’s operating philosophy. Communicate Company’s requirements, policies, and procedures to on-site maintenance contractors, while leading by example
Provide assistance, coaching, on-the-job training, and assessments to new employees as required
Comply with all HS&E requirements and High Reliability Organization standards and expectations in the performance of this Position's responsibilities
Who you are:
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:
Legally authorized to work in Canada
Minimum 3rd Class Power Engineering certificate, or significant progress towards a 2nd class certification
Minimum 3 years’ experience in the operation of steam generating equipment, control panel, oil processing and/or well equipment and associated process and systems
Experience in equipment isolation, safe work permitting and hazard analysis
Experience with SAP and a field data capture system are assets
Solid understanding of safety and regulatory standards and procedures
We acknowledge the value of transferrable skills and may consider equivalent combinations of experience and education should you not meet a specific requirement.
As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments.
For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver's abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate.
