About this opportunity:

We are seeking two Wellsite Engineers for the West White Rose (WWR) Platform that supports the safe and efficient execution of Drilling, Completions, and Intervention activities. These two positions are rotational roles that provides technical and operational support both offshore and in the office environment. Working as part of the DCI Operations team, the Wellsite Engineer roles contribute to real-time decision-making, logistics coordination, and technical problem-solving for a variety of well operations. These roles offer an opportunity for hands-on offshore experience combined with exposure to operational support during onshore rotations.

These positions will initially be based in St. John’s, NL, and anticipate a transition to a rotation offshore Grand Banks, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada in year 2025 Q3.

These full-time, permanent positions involve working 12-hour days on a 3 weeks on/3 weeks off rotation offshore during the operation phase, during the project phase your will be based at our St. John’s office on a standard Monday to Friday schedule.

What you’ll do:

Offshore (3 Weeks):

  • Provide technical support for Drilling, Completions, and Well Intervention operations onboard the WWR Platform, ensuring program compliance

  • Monitor, analyze, and report daily activities, identifying risks, opportunities, and performance metrics

  • Collaborate with the onshore team in morning calls, coordination meetings, and implement engineering and performance management changes

  • Support logistics planning, manage equipment/materials, and ensure HSE compliance during all offshore operations

Onshore Office (3 Weeks):

  • Support planning, execution, and readiness for Drilling and Completion campaigns, including developing procedures, risk assessments, and contingency plans

  • Contribute to after-action reviews, lessons-learned sessions, and pre-spud/pre-completion planning to enhance operational performance

  • Update well files, engineering documents, and reporting systems based on offshore feedback

  • Training as required by the CAPP Standard Practice for Training & Qualifications of Personnel, Transport Canada, other regulatory requirements, and company required training as per the approved Cenovus Training Matrix

Who you are:

Our ideal candidates will have the following minimum qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

  • Undergraduate degree in a Petroleum, Mechanical, Civil or Process Engineering

  • A member in good standing or eligible for registration with Professional Engineers and Geoscientist Newfoundland & Laboratory (PEGNL)

  • Minimum 4 years of engineering experience within the oil and gas industry, with proven expertise in drilling, completions, or well interventions in an offshore environment

  • Demonstrated experience in technical support and operations management for wellsite activities with a strong understanding of well/pressure control, HSE practices and industry regulations

  • Proficiency in well design and reporting software, such as WellView and Landmark Well Planning Software (e.g., tubing design, TAD modeling, hydraulics modeling)

  • Familiarity with Cenovus Atlantic Region operations and in-depth knowledge of offshore activities in the Jeanne d’Arc Basin would be considered an asset

This is a safety sensitive position and will be subject to offshore pre-placement Fitness for Work assessments, which includes drug and alcohol screening, completion of BOSIET/FOET emergency training, a CAPP medical and BST/HUEBA testing, and a driver’s abstract review.

You must be able to travel via helicopter and boat. This position requires the successful candidate to travel offshore, therefore you will be required to obtain and maintain medical clearance and obtain all required training necessary for offshore travel.
