Job description, duties and responsibilities:

Our team based at Université Laval, the Centre de recherche du CHU de Québec, the School of Public Health and Social Policy at the University of Victoria and the Boston University School of Public Health is looking for a research professional in environmental epidemiology to join the team.

The professional will work under the direction of Dr. Mélanie Lemire, Dr. Pierre Ayotte, Dr. Matthew Little and Dr. Amira Aker to :
- Study the impact of exposure to environmental contaminants and nutritional status on health (cardiometabolic, respiratory, immune and thyroid functions) in Inuit communities of Nunavik, Northern Quebec, Canada. The candidate will have access to data from the Nunavik Qanuilirpitaa? health survey (Q2017) of 1326 Inuit youth and adults, one of the largest surveys of its kind in the Arctic;
- Collaborate with colleagues at the Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services (NRBHSS). We have several collaborations related to the large amount of data;
- Opportunity to lead several analyses and studies;
- Analyze data and publish scientific manuscripts;
- Conduct communication and knowledge mobilization activities to share and discuss key findings with Inuit colleagues (including travel to Nunavik communities, conditions permitting);
- Increase knowledge and understanding of issues related to Inuit health, well-being, culture and environmental justice in the North.

Requirements:

- Master's degree and 2 years' relevant experience or PhD in environmental health, epidemiology or other related field;
- Advanced statistical analysis and manuscript writing ;
- Experience working with survey data;
- Excellent comprehension, writing and speaking skills in English (French is an asset);
- Collaborative energy and good adaptability skills, as well as experience and strong interest in participatory, interdisciplinary and knowledge mobilization approaches (an asset).

Conditions of employment
- Workplace: Centre de recherche du CHU de Québec, Hôpital du Saint-Sacrement site;
- Schedule: 35h per week during the day (Monday to Friday);
- Start date: ;
- Duration: 12 months (with possibility of renewal) ;
- Remuneration: according to existing salary structure;
- Vacations: 20 days ;
- Holidays: 13 days;
- Sick leave: 9.6 days;
