The Borderline Personality Disorder Service is seeking a Counsellor Therapist 2 for a full-time, temporary position until December 2025. The clinic is located at the Queen Street site (60 White Squirrel Way), with some opportunities for virtual work. Reporting to the Clinical Manager, the successful candidate will provide individual and group treatment, including facilitating DBT groups and individual DBT therapy for individuals with borderline personality disorder. They will also coordinate care when multiple services are involved. As part of a team with a teaching and training mandate, the candidate may contribute to the clinic’s educational activities, including providing education, supervision, and support to students, participating in research initiatives, and engaging in community outreach. Additional responsibilities include supporting continuous quality improvement efforts and ensuring accurate workload data entry. The ideal candidate must be able to work effectively with clients from diverse backgrounds and contribute to a workplace culture of inclusion, teamwork, and compliance with all regulatory and legislative requirements. Evening hours may be required, and the successful candidate will also provide after-hours coaching services to clients on weekends and evenings on a rotating basis. Other related duties may be assigned.

The successful candidate must have a Master’s degree in a related discipline and be registered and in good standing with a regulated health college, such as the Colleges of Social Work, Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), with independent practice status. (RP Qualifying members and RPs not yet in independent practice are not eligible.) They must have at least three years of experience conducting DBT for individuals, along with at least two years of experience participating in a DBT team consult model. Experience facilitating DBT groups and individual DBT sessions for more than three years is also required. Eligibility for DBT certification is considered an asset. Strong teamwork, communication (verbal and written), and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to establish and maintain therapeutic relationships and facilitate group and individual therapy. Experience in healthcare capacity-building and student education is considered an asset. The successful candidate must be familiar with community resources related to substance use and mental health treatment and be able to provide culturally competent care to clients from diverse backgrounds. Proficiency in word processing, basic computer operations, and client information databases is required, with experience in computerized client databases considered an asset. Bilingualism (French/English) or proficiency in a second language is also an asset.
