The Complex Care and Recovery Program is seeking a full-time, temporary (12 months) Registered Nurse (RN) for the Forensic Outpatient Service. Reporting to the manager, you will be a member of an inter-professional team providing clinical and risk management services to adults under the jurisdiction of the Ontario Review Board (ORB). You will have sound knowledge of psychiatric-mental health nursing standards, nursing regulatory standards and the CAMH Model of Care. Working collaboratively with the clinical team, you will be assigned a caseload of clients with severe and persistent mental illness and involvement with the justice system, and will participate in the provision of rehabilitation services offered within the forensic division. You will be responsible for liaising with inpatient units regarding new referrals, developing, implementing and monitoring risk management plans, ensuring compliance with the ORB disposition, participating in the development of ORB reports and providing discipline-specific services.

Other duties will include formulating treatment plans, completing standardized assessments, motivational interviewing and communicating with the client’s social and community networks. Sound knowledge of community and CAMH-wide resources will inform your discharge-planning activities, particularly in addressing client housing, income and aftercare needs. Documentation in, and use of, CAMH’s clinical information system is also a job requirement. You will support a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, requires respectful teamwork and complies with all applicable and regulatory requirements. Weekend and evening shifts will be required. As much as possible, it is an expectation that services will be provided in the community. This position is located at 1001 Queen Street West.

The successful candidate will be a member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario. You will also have a baccalaureate degree in nursing and must have a current CPR (BCLS-HP) certificate. Certification in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing through the Canadian Nurses Association is also preferred. Successful candidates must also possess sound knowledge and experience working within an interprofessional clinical environment; specific experience in psychiatric and forensic risk assessment and management is considered an asset. In addition, you will possess effective decision-making, problem solving and interpersonal skills, proven organizational skills, and the ability to facilitate work within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. Demonstrated ability to work with clients of diverse backgrounds is necessary. Bilingualism (French/English) or proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.

Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.
