Research Assistant 1 - Molecular Science-camh

Reporting to the Director, the full-time, contract (1 year) Research Assistant will provide support primarily to the Director, but also to the team the Molecular Brain Science department to ensure smooth and effective operation. This position is aimed at supporting clinical and genetic data collection, processing and data analysis. The RA will collaborate with other scientists on the team and utilize data collected from prior studies. The RA will further support the PI and team in the execution of this project through the preparation of presentations and maintaining databases, and preparation of data for analysis, preparation of tables and figures, literature searches, and supporting manuscript preparation for publications.

The candidate must be a self-starter with the ability to work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team. The successful candidate will have excellent capacity for self-directed learning/working, and require minimal supervision. You will support and contribute to a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork, and complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements.

The successful candidate will have completed Grade 12 and/or special courses. Post-Secondary Certificate or College Diploma in a related discipline, and relevant research experience will be an asset. Superior interpersonal, planning, time management, organizational, critical thinking, problem-solving skills are required. The candidate must be able to multi-task under pressure, deal with conflicting priorities, and coordinate projects to tight deadlines, with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. In this role, you must be willing to take initiative, have the ability to prioritize work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision. Advanced computer skills including familiarity with the R-coding environment, SPSS as well as the Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) are preferred. The ability to work with team members and stakeholders of diverse cultural and social backgrounds is necessary. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language are assets.
