Description
The INTREPID Lab is a hub for research and health services programing on nicotine addiction. Our goal is to synthesize and discover new knowledge in the treatment of nicotine addiction, validate technology-mediated methods and processes for delivering treatment and use these methods to scale up research discoveries to health services programs through our network of over 300 primary- and community-care partner organizations. In meeting its objectives, the INTREPID Lab works with technology vendors, in addition to creating its own technology-based methods and protocols, for research and subsequent integration into health services programs.
Position Description
The INTREPID Lab is seeking a Casual, Research Assistant 2 (Bilingual) to help support a large clinical program called the STOP Program on an as-needed basis.
Reporting to the Manager, your primary assignment will be collecting clinical, outcome and evaluation data to examine the effectiveness of providing tobacco dependence treatment to smokers across Ontario. The candidate will assist in collection of data from program participants by conducting follow-up assessments and interviews over the phone and in-person in English and French along with entering data, and tracking progress using an online data management portal. Other duties include participating in planning meetings and providing support to other team members. You will also be responsible for administrative duties pertaining to the program, such as ensuring program records are maintained, securely stored, and backed up appropriately. This role may also support a number of other studies and initiatives within the INTREPID Lab that can include administrative duties, liaising with program /research study participants and supporting basic literature searches and environmental scans.
You must be able to work independently and effectively in an interprofessional team environment. This casual position will involve supporting the program on a temporary and time-limited basis; hours of work may vary to support program requirements and some work may be required outside of normal business hours. This position is located at 1025 Queen St. W.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of Community College with a background in health or social sciences combined with 6 months - 1 year of related experience. Bilingualism (French/English) is a requirement for this position. Preference will be given to candidates with a background or experience in working with a people who are suffering from substance dependence and/or mental health challenges; experience working with nicotine and tobacco-related programing is a strong asset for this position. Gathering, organizing and entering questionnaires and other information into databases and maintaining filing systems is required. Previous experience with online data management systems is preferred. Proficiency in completing workload and navigating workflows in computerized platforms is required. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office is required; SPSS for statistical analysis is an asset. Superior interpersonal, communication (oral/written) and organizational skills are required, and you have the ability to work effectively with a diverse population and within a dynamic team environment. Flexibility and openness to changing priorities are required with respect to type of work assigned and potentially variable hours of work.
