Deaf/Hard of Hearing Teaching Consultant-Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools
On behalf of the Central Alberta Low Incidence Cooperative, Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools is seeking a part-time teacher consultant to support educational programming for children who are deaf/hard of hearing (DHH) within Central Alberta.
Key responsibilities will be to provide consultation to school staff by:
- suggesting modifications to the classroom environment,
- recommending adaptations/accommodations to curriculum and strategies for curriculum access,
- assisting teachers in the development of IPP goals and strategies,
- providing recommendations for educational resources,
- interpreting audiology reports for school staff, and
- providing information and strategies for social skill development and self-advocacy.
The successful candidate will have:
- education and/or experience in DHH teaching/learning,
- a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle,
- ability to work virtually as well as in person,
- excellent communication skills- both verbal and written,
- strong time management skills, and
- ability to work independently as well as cooperatively in a team.
Preference will be given to a candidate with an education degree as well as graduate work in DHH although candidates without a teaching degree but with relevant knowledge and experience are invited to apply. Expertise in American Sign Language, Signed Exact English and/or CASE is an asset.

Schedule: Monday to Friday
Ability to commute and/or relocate to Red Deer.
The position will remain open until May 15 or until a suitable candidate has been found. This position works for multiple school jurisdictions therefore it is not a requirement of this position to be Catholic.
