To be considered for this competition you must be enrolled in a registered co-op program at a Canadian post-secondary institution, and eligible for a Work Term during the specified period. Students must upload proof of enrolment in a co-op program when completing your application.
Transit Facilities requires one co-op student for a 4 month work term or 8 month work term (starting May, 2025) to conduct transit facility site survey/inspections, record information in databases, analyze results, review pertinent drawings as related to transit facility construction projects and provide internal/external communications for areas of impact.
- Organize and conduct transit facilities field surveys;
- Research various sources of information and prepare reports in the form of maps, charts, and graphs;
- Undertake facility asset inventories;
- Prepare service requests and maintain up-to-date tracking databases and dashboards;
- Attend team meetings and update project progress;
- Maintain accurate notes, records and sketches to describe and certify work performed;
- Survey bus terminals and stations, and record infrastructure information;
- Follow all safety procedures and be aware of changing surroundings;
- Provide support and assistance to Transit Facilities section (including Transit Infrastructure Planning);
- Assist in Board Period Infrastructure changes, including Operator and Customer outreach information sessions, as required;
- Conduct research on new technologies and initiatives for transit facilities; and
- Perform other duties as required.
- Must have completed 1st or 2nd year of Engineering. Enrollment of subsequent year is required;
- Must hold a valid class “G” Licence with a driving record that is acceptable to the City of Mississauga. A Driver’s Abstract will be required;
- Strong computer skills/aptitude in office software (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe) and Microstation;
- Proficient in database management and manipulation;
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills;
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple competing tasks;
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with other teams;
- Good judgement with the ability to make decisions in the field;
- Must be able to work outside (driving, walking and/or standing) in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to work flexible hours on site and in the office, as required; and
- Successful candidate is required to provide their own ‘Green Patch’ CSA approved safety footwear.
Hourly Rate/Salary: $19.80 - $23.53
