Job Summary

Under direction of the Manager, Park Development, the successful candidate will be responsible for working with Project Managers on various capital projects by preparing and/or assisting with feasibility studies, 3D renderings, concept plans, master plans and construction drawings for Community Services' projects and park development in Mississauga.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Researching and investigating sites and properties for pre-design recommendations;
  • On-site field review and reporting on project construction activities under the guidance of Project Managers;
  • Preparing high quality plan renderings to graphically illustrate & communicate project visioning;
  • Preparing designs, master plans, construction drawings, specifications, costing and contract documents for Community Services' projects;
  • Preparing site plans, grading plans and technical details related to design and construction of capital projects;
  • Preparing 3D renderings, graphic plans and drawings for public consultations, meetings or information centers;
  • Preparing minutes and reports relative to projects;
  • Preparing social media & webpage communications related to Park Development;
  • Performing other related office and site duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Graduation from a recognized university or college in Landscape Architecture or Landscape Technology and 1 year experience in park planning, landscape design and development, and/or progressive private practice experience on a variety of projects that have been built.
  • Working background in the preparation of master plans, concept plans, contract documents, specifications construction and technical details.
  • Self-directed organization, problem solving and the ability to bring forward creative results.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of various construction methods and engineering principles applicable to landscape architecture.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment consisting of professional Landscape Architects, Planners and Engineers.
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of Word, Power Point and Excel.
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of Microstation or AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite and 3D rendering software applications for landscape design purposes.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal, report writing and graphic communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license with access to a vehicle is required.
  • May be required to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
