Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support objectives and goals of the specialty sports camp hired for through quality instruction, personal safety checks, supervision of volunteers, public, excellent customer and staff relations with camp leaders, CS staff and operations to ensure camps run optimally and smoothly
  • Respond to questions and concerns of participants and parents.
  • Manage participants behavior to ensure safety
  • Use creative teaching approaches to meet the individual needs of participants
  • Plan and implement a comprehensive inclusive specialty sports camp program to meet the needs of all participants incorporating and modelling the HIGH FIVE principles of healthy child development (when instruction involves children ages 6 to 12)
  • Get to know participants in order to better plan needs of children
  • Respond to customers’ needs and questions with accurate information
  • Perform emergency procedures as required
  • Perform administrative tasks as required such as Sign ins, Sign outs and Accident Incident forms. Complete certificates/report cards.
  • Equipment inventory
  • Conduct safety checks of program equipment and allocated indoor/outdoor facilities daily.
  • Assist with set up and tear down of equipment if required.
  • Ensure equipment is properly stored at the end of each class and area is left free of hazards.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Must be 16 years of age by the start date (June 1, 2025)
  • In depth knowledge of the specific sport being hired for, strong practical skills and the ability to demonstrate and teach to various levels and age groups.
  • Strong communication, organizational and leadership skills.
  • NCCP Coaching Certificate
  • Emergency First Aid Certificate (Lifesaving Society, Canadian Red Cross Society, St. John’s Ambulance or the Canadian Ski Patrol) by June 1, 2025
  • HIGH FIVE ® Principles of Healthy Child Development by June 1, 2025
  • Criminal Record Search, Vulnerable Sector Screening acceptable to the City of Mississauga.
  • Physical exercises while instructing
  • Primarily community centre environment

Hourly Rate/Salary: $20.37 - $24.85
Hours of Work: up to 40 hours per week
Work Location: Paramount Fine Foods Centre - Main Bowl
