Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Manager, Stormwater Projects and Approvals, the position will:

  • Lead studies and capital projects related to stormwater infrastructure planning and design including flood control, water quality, linear infrastructure and creek rehabilitation
  • Procure and manage contracts and deliverables of consultants on stormwater related studies and design projects
  • Coordinate with consultants and internal and external stakeholders to ensure that project deliverables and schedules are met
  • Follow corporate guidelines and best practices for project management, including the preparation of project charters, project management plans, project schedules and progress reports
  • Provide specialized engineering input as required to other sections and divisions on matters related to stormwater issues and policies
  • Provide engineering input and recommendations, as required, in the preparation of the Stormwater Business Plan and Budget
  • Prepare written correspondence, reports and presentations to internal and external clients, including residents, regulatory agencies and Council
  • Participate and represent the section/division/department/city on internal and external working groups and committees as required
  • Keep current on best practices, standards, regulations and technologies related to stormwater and project management
  • Other related duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications
  • Degree in Civil, Water Resources or Environmental Engineering or a related discipline from a recognized university
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in good standing with Professional Engineers Ontario
  • Minimum of two years of progressive experience in municipal stormwater engineering and planning, including site specific, community, watershed or municipality-wide studies and infrastructure projects related to flood control, water quality, linear infrastructure and creek rehabilitation
  • Demonstrated experience in Muncipial Class Environmental Assessment, project management and stakeholder consultation
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills necessary to prepare reports and presentations to staff, external agencies, consultants, stakeholders, members of the public and Council
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to lead, develop, implement and manage multidisciplinary projects and programs
  • Proficient with common office computer software, including MS-Excel, Word, PowerPoint and MS-Project, or equivalent. Experience with database, GIS and hydrologic/hydraulic modelling software would be an asset
  • Must be able to attend project site visits and meetings within the City of Mississauga and the GTA

Hourly Rate/Salary: $ 94,982.00 - $ 126,643.00
