Job Summary

Reporting to the Manager of Golf Services, the successful candidate will be responsible for the daily maintenance functions of the Golf Course operation, including 18 holes, clubhouse gardens and grounds and the public/staff parking areas including snow removal.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Direct responsibility for overseeing daily maintenance operations to ensure quality golf course conditions and optimal turf care.
  • Supervise and assist in the hiring/training and co-ordination of grounds maintenance staff as relates to safety, work schedules, machinery operations, attendance records and evaluations.
  • Supervises/co-ordinates duties related to mowing practices, irrigation repairs, water management, aerifying, fertilizing and IPM programs.
  • Set-up the course for daily play.
  • The overseeing of contract and special construction projects, including long range course planning including asset/equipment management.
  • Prepare budgets and maintain good records of operations.
  • Attend online and in-person training sessions to maintain compliance with City training requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Degree and/or Diploma in Turf Management with a minimum of 3 years experience in Golf Course operations working as a Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent.
  • Maintain safety standards for the public and employees, ensuring compliance with current and new legislated requirements, including WHMIS and OHSA.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to supervise, delegate tasks and ensure follow-through to achieve operational goals.
  • Self-starter with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Applicants should have knowledge of the game of golf.
  • Working knowledge in computer applications, including irrigation systems software.
  • Must possess a valid Landscape Exterminator Licence.
  • Must possess a valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's License with driving record acceptable to the City of Mississauga (will be verified).
  • Be Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Accredited.
  • Must possess Emergency First Aid Certification.
  • Lakeview Golf Course is a 7 day per week operation. Staff may be required to work weekends and holidays.

Hourly Rate/Salary: $86,858.00 - $115,812.00
