About Kahnawà:ke Education Center
The Kahnawà:ke Education Center is an administrative body responsible to deliver locally controlled elementary and secondary school programs and services for Kateri School, Karonhianonhnha Tsi Ionterihwaienstahkhwa, and the Kahnawake Survival School. The KEC administers and supports postsecondary programs and their clients. The KEC is governed by the Kahnawà:ke Combined Schools Committee (KCSC) who are responsible to maintain and uphold all legislation, policies and procedures of the KEC.

Position Summary
The main purpose of the Clerk/Receptionist role is to facilitate the daily office functions of the Kahnawà:ke Education Center and assist the school staff, parents, children, and visitors while ensuring that reception and secretarial support services are provided in compliance with the school’s philosophy, goals and objectives.
The main purpose of the Administrative Assistant role is to provide administrative and secretarial support to the office of the Associate Principal.

Key Responsibilities
  • To act as the first point of contact for the school: welcoming all staff, students, parents, visitors and responding to telephone and email enquiries and ensuring that appropriate actions are taken in a timely manner.
  • • To ensure the safety and security of the school at all times, monitoring the main entrance and unlocking the door, electronically for staff, students, deliveries and visitors.
  • To receive, record and direct students arriving late and students referred to the office.
  • To receive and direct students to the Associate Principal for behavioral issues and social support as required.
  • To provide administrative support to the Associate Principal.
  • To act as a main contact person, organize, prioritize and coordinate schedules, contacts and activities on behalf of the Associate Principal.
  • To ensure the Associate Principal is provided with up-to-date information from staff within the organization.
  • To produce and distribute any communication pieces required by the Associate Principal.
  • To assist in the design and implementation of communication strategies and products as requested.
  • To provide assistance in the writing of press releases, public service announcements and any other media releases.
Requirements
  • DEC (Diplome d’Etude Collegiales) in Office Systems Management or Equivalent Discipline with three (3) years related experience OR Vocational Diploma in Office Systems Management with two (2) years related experience OR Ten (10) Years Related Administrative Experience
  • A strong knowledge and/or experience in strategic planning exercises and communications planning.
  • A good understanding of the functions, processes and structures of First Nations, Provincial, and Federal government’s educational role and responsibilities.
  • The ability to speak Kanien’ke:ha and French is an asset.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to ability to task is a requirement
