What You’ll Be Doing
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Inspect, service and maintain a diverse fleet of construction equipment such as skid steers, mini-excavators, booms, scissor lifts, telehandlers, generators, air compressors, compaction, and small engine equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance, diagnose equipment malfunctions and make required repairs. Test repaired equipment for proper performance.
- Lead a team of mechanics, providing guidance, training and support.
- Keep an organized shop, prioritize the work being completed on the shop floor, and assist technicians in troubleshooting minor mechanical repairs.
- Supervise mechanics and yard staff to ensure priorities are met, preventative maintenance is performed, and correct/effective repairs are completed.
- Keep track of and assign necessary repairs and maintenance and ensure practical solutions are developed.
- Provide a high standard of customer service when interacting with customers.
- Work with the Parts & Service Coordinator to provide accurate timelines for completion of equipment being prepared to be sold to customers.
- Ensure all shop paperwork is completed on a timely basis. Ensure machine files are maintained with all service records.
- Quality Control – Inspect and test repaired equipment for proper performance and functionality.
- Contribute to a professional and safe work environment by keeping the shop and yard clean, and by ensuring all company policies and procedures, and safety requirements are followed by the shop team.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Bring to the Team
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Significant experience working as a mechanic on a variety of construction equipment.
310T or 421A license would be considered an asset but is not required; we will also consider equivalent experience. - Strong understanding of computer applications and diagnostic tools.
- Must have a valid G license with clean or satisfactory driver's abstract.
- Must have own tools.
- High degree of mechanical aptitude – able to diagnose problems and identify practical fixes.
- Strong leadership skills - able to lead a team effectively and foster a positive working environment.
- Ability to coach, mentor and develop the skills of fellow employees and apprentice technicians
- Flexibility -must be comfortable with managing and adapting to changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
- Works well under pressure with tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with colleagues, customers, and supervisors.
- Continuous improvement mindset - always looks for ways to make things better.
