Role Overview:
We are seeking a mid-level Senior Data Engineer with a passion for working with data lakes and cloud-based technologies. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in designing, building, and optimizing our data pipelines and contribute to our data lake implementation and migration to Microsoft Fabric. You’ll collaborate closely with business units, Power BI developers, and other data professionals to ensure seamless integration of data solutions.
What You’ll Be Doing
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and implementation of our first data lake and support the migration to Microsoft Fabric.
- Work with stakeholders to plan the migration from legacy reporting to Fabric-based solutions.
- Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines to collect, transform, and load data into the data lake while ensuring high performance, reliability, and scalability of data pipelines.
- Collaborate with Data Engineers and Power BI developers to optimize data models and ensure seamless reporting.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and ensure data availability as well as define best practices and standards for cloud data infrastructure.
- Manage cloud resources to ensure data is stored efficiently and cost-effectively. Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines to ensure smooth operations.
- Implement data governance and security practices in line with industry standards.
What You’ll Bring to the Team
Qualifications and Requirements:
- BA/BSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Math or Physics. Advanced degree (Masters or PHD) is an asset.
- 3-5 years of experience in data engineering or related fields.
- Strong experience with data lakes (Azure Data Lake preferred).
- Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric or a strong desire to learn and implement it.
- Proficiency with ETL/ELT tools (e.g., ADF, Databricks, or SSIS).
- Hands-on experience with Spark, SQL and Python for data processing.
- Familiarity with Power BI reporting and DAX is an asset.
- Experience working in cloud environments (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Methodical, organized, and detail oriented.
