Description
SUMMARY OF POSITION
Reporting to the Chairperson and working closely with the Resolution Officer, the assistant Resolution Officer will be responsible for working both independently and collaborate with relevant stakeholders throughout the organization, to informally investigate complaints dealing with a diverse range of issues involving administrative fairness. The incumbent will be able to identify new issues and opportunities for systemic change for the organization.
SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS
The incumbent will be responsible for:
- Listening to and understanding issues while maintaining neutrality regarding the facts;
- Assisting in reframing issues, helping individuals evaluate options, and guiding them to focus on solutions that align with their interests;
- Training, guiding, and coaching individuals to address issues directly with other parties, including utilizing the organization's formal resolution resources when necessary;
- Helping to escalate issues to formal resolution channels by raising concerns or creating awareness among the appropriate decision-makers in the organization;
- Facilitating informal resolution processes by supporting parties in resolving issues through various forms of informal mediation;
- Advising stakeholders on implementing long-term, sustainable solutions to address issues and conflicts.
REQUIREMENTS
Education and experience:
- Bachelor's degree in an appropriate academic discipline such as business and economics, humanities or social sciences;
- 5-7 years of experience in conflict resolution.
Knowledge and abilities:
- Active listening and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse groups.
- Capacity to maintain an open mind and exercise sound judgment.
- Strong aptitude for acting with diplomacy, discretion, integrity, and transparency.
- Ability to develop creative solutions.
- Willingness to proactively address and escalate issues to higher levels within the organization when necessary.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and conflict resolution skills.
LANGUAGEProficient in Cree and English;
- Fluent in French (asset).
OTHER
- Willing to travel extensively at the various CBHSSJB locations;
- Willing to attend mediation and conflict resolution trainings.
