Description
SUMMARY OF THE POSITION:
The Wiichihiiwaauwin Helpline workers assess the needs, intervene, orient and refer all phone calls from clients struggling with various psychosocial issues. They are required to intervene in situation of crisis/emergency.
The incumbents must offer a minimum of availabilities (1 evening per week and 1 week-end per month) each month, during which they will be on-call, must participate in bi-monthly team meetings with all helpline workers and to mandatory trainings.
This job can be combined to a regular full-time job.
REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE* College diploma (DEC) in technique of social work or other relevant college discipline or* Certificate of college studies in Social Work Techniques or Social Assistance Techniques or* Attestation of college studies in Educators in Native Childcare Services or Special Needs Education aboriginal and Inuit children may be considered.
LANGUAGE:
- Fluency in English
- Fluency in Cree is a strong asset
SHIFTS: evenings and week-ends (on-call)
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: * Good understanding of psychosocial issues of Crees of James Bay;* Excellent critical thinking and decision making skills;* Ability to work under pressure in situations of psychosocial emergencies;* Punctuality, autonomy, resourcefulness & team work skills;* Knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Teams and other computer applications.
