SUMMARY OF THE POSITION
A person who is responsible for providing nursing care services according to the bio-psycho-social needs of users or groups under her/his care. She/he evaluates the health condition of users, as well as determines and implements nursing care and treatment plans. She/he provides nursing and medical care and treatment aimed at maintaining and restoring health, as well as preventing disease.
She/he plans, provides and evaluates teaching activities intended for the users, their relatives and groups of people. In addition, she/he participates in research activities aimed at promoting health and preventing disease.
SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS* Assess the health condition of the resident and develop intervention plans as well as therapeutic nursing plans;* Assume the responsibility of the role of clinical leader with a team of nursing assistants and patient attendants;* Participate in the coordination of services in collaboration with the management team and the head nurse;* Participate in supporting residents and families struggling with psychosocial issues;* Ensure a partnership relationship with residents, their families and all members of the interdisciplinary and care team;* Take charge of situations requiring an assessment in order to determine the degree of urgency of the situation and to position oneself as to the follow-up to be favored;* Responsible for the nursing care process of his team;* Mobilize team members regarding the intervention plan that meets the resident's needs;* Ensure an administrative role in terms of the quality and safety of care provided to residents;
Education:
- Member of the Order of Quebec Nurses (O.I.I.Q.);
- DEC in Nursing;
Experience:
- Minimum of two years' experience in different sectors of a hospital;
- One year of experience in a CHSLD is an asset;
Knowledge and Abilities: * Knowledge of Cree culture and social and health issues in Eeyou Istchee is an asset; * Advanced clinical knowledge in gerontology and geriatric nursing is an asset.* Excellent interpersonal and interdisciplinary teamwork skills;* Show leadership to manage a work team; * Observation and analysis skills;
* Good resistance to stress* Excellent communication and listening skills;* Take initiative and be autonomous; * Open to other's culture, ability to adapt to change and to a new environment;* Show interest and empathy towards others; * Possess a capacity for analysis and synthesis;* Demonstrate a keen interest in the elderly clientele and the helping relationship;
Language:
- Fluent in English and Cree;
- Fluency in French is an asset;
Other:
- This position includes on-call periods.
