SUMMARY OF THE POSITION
Person who participates in the realization of a set of nursing care in collaboration with the health care team. She/he contributes to the assessment of the user's state of health and to the realization of the care plan, provides nursing and well-being care, nursing and medical treatment, with the aim of maintaining health, restore it and prevent disease. She participates in teaching users and their families.

SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS
Espresso:
o Under the authority of the manager of the Wiichihiituwin department (Cree patient services) and under the functional authority of the nurse at Hotel Espresso, the licensed practical nurse (LPN) contributes to the care of patients and their families. Thus, she works jointly with the clinical nurse from Wiichihiituwin at the Hotel Espresso. In addition, she collaborates with all health professionals such as doctors and all nurses in the department and with partners.
o The licensed practical nurse engages in the various activities detailed below with a human and respectful approach. She makes sure at all times to work within her area of expertise in accordance with the laws and regulations governing the professional practice of nursing assistants.
o Among other things, she collaborates in the collection of information relating to the patient's health history and measures the vital parameters of patients. She helps support patients for ADLs and teaches caregivers about support with ADLs.

o She ensures that all relevant information on the person's state of health is transmitted to the nurse and the healthcare team. She administers the treatments and medications indicated in the care plan according to the activities reserved for the licensed practical nurse.

At the 1055 René Lévesque location:
o Asks for the reports of the medical meetings of the communities of Whapmagoostui, Eastmain, Nemaska, Wemindji and Chisasibi. Uploads the report request confirmation to Care4 software. At the request of the nurse or superiors, must upload the documentation provided.
o Ensures the necessary prerequisites for APSS visits in Montreal before the arrival of clients.
o Communicates with clients (according to the communities assigned) to ensure that instructions before or after a procedure are transmitted and understood by the latter. Ensures that the material and/or medication being prepared is in the possession of the client (ex: Golytely, Dulcolax, Betadine, etc.).
o When at the office, sorts and prioritizes the medical reports to be processed by the community liaison nurse assigned.
o If necessary and at the request of the liaison nurses, contributes to the care provided to patients and their families at the Hotel Espresso and/or data collection. The creation of an appointment as well as a note in Care4 must follow any nursing action. The latter must be completed in Care4 for each intervention and ensure follow-up with the responsible liaison nurse.
o In order to ensure accessibility to nurses in response to the clientele, returns calls as needed according to the communities assigned. If these calls are completed, must perform the same task for the other communities if necessary.
o Collaborates with the liaison nurses who work with the communities assigned to the LPN.

Chartered Flight:
o The LPN may be required to travel on the charter flight as an attendant for a designated patient or to ensure that designated duties are performed on the charter flight. In this context, the LPN will have to stick solely to the care plan established for this patient. In the event that the patient she is accompanying requires an intervention that is not included in the care plan, the nursing assistant should refrain from intervening. This is also true for anyone else on the charter flight who might require unforeseen medical intervention.
o The LPN ensures the general well-being of the accompanied patient and his escort. She helps the patient and / or the escort to mobilize while respecting the ru

REQUIREMENTS
Education:

  • Must have a vocational studies diploma (DEP) in health care assistance and nursing from a school recognized by the competent ministry;
  • Must be a member of the Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers auxiliaires du Québec.
    Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Cree culture and language, and social/health issues in Eeyou Istchee is an asset;
  • Computer skills; outlook and windows especially
  • Interpersonal relationship skills and team spirit;
  • Dynamism and self-confidence;
  • Capacity to be autonomous, flexible, discrete, empathetic and to take initiatives;
  • Capacity to work under pressure;
  • Sense of observation and self-control;
  • Critical thinking, organizational and decision-making skills.
    Language:

  • Fluent in English and in French;

  • Fluency in Cree is an asset.

    All JBNQA Cree beneficiary hired to work for the Wiichihiituwin direction either at the Montreal or the Val d'Or or the Chibougamau point of service are entitled to the following benefits:
