SUMMARY OF THE POSITION
Person who, following a medical prescription, determines the fitting plan. They design, manufactures or supervise the manufacture, install, adjust, repair and modify orthoses, prostheses and positioning in order to improve the functional independence of users. They participate in their rehabilitation. They collaborate in the training of the personnel.

REQUIREMENTS
Education:

  • Must have a college diploma (DEC) in orthotics and orthopedic prosthesis techniques from a school recognized by the competent ministry or be a CO(c);
  • Member of l'Ordre des technologues professionnels du Québec.

Experience:

  • Two (2) years of pertinent experience:
    o Ability in the identification and analysis of various clientele needs (0-99 years, including diabetic foot ulcer prevention/treatment);
    o High ability for insole fitting, adjusting & repair;
    o Comfortable with prosthesis adjustment or minor repair, an asset.
  • Must be comfortable working with industrial equipment such as sanders/grinders, and industrial adhesives in a mobile clinic context (remote area/minimal setting);
  • Experience working with First Nations or intercultural context is an asset.

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Good knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, Outlook, Teams and other computer skills (numeric medical file/charts) and capable of administrative tasks (scheduling, filling purchasing orders, etc.);
  • Have planning and organization skills, adaptation skills and sense of autonomy;
  • Capacity to be creative, flexible and resourceful;
  • Reliable, dynamic, detail oriented, motivated individual;
  • Proven ability in working effectively in a multidisciplinary environment, with all members of the Health Care team (nurse, doctor, PT, OT, etc.);
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and teamwork skills;
  • Willingness to transfer knowledge effectively to other staff;
  • Knowledge of Cree culture (an asset) and cultural safety or open to learning.

LANGUAGE
Fluent in English;
Fluency in Cree and/or French is an asset.

OTHER
* Available for travelling, at least 15 visits/year.
