SUMMARY OF THE POSITION
A person who is responsible for nursing care and medical professional activities with users in a specialty area for common and complex health problems according to the regulations in effect. He/She assesses the health status of the user, identifies health problems and determines the appropriate therapeutic interventions in his/her specialty area, including prescribing diagnostic tests, medical treatments and medications. She collaborates with the attending physician to establish priorities for care and treatment. She carries out or contributes to the follow-up and management of previously diagnosed users, in partnership with the attending physician.
She provides clinical support to nurses and other professionals. She contributes to the design, implementation and evaluation of programs related to her specialty. She participates in the development and implementation of teaching programs for users, their families and groups of people. She participates in the development and evaluation of medical and nursing care rules, collaborates in the development of training programs for nursing personnel and may supervise the activities of specialized nurse practitioner candidates and trainees in training. She conducts or collaborates in nursing research and collaborates in medical clinical research.
SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS* Ensure the management of acute and chronic conditions, pediatric follow-up visit, perinatal follow-up, home care client follow-up;* Work in interdisciplinary team with the nurses in extended role, Primary Care Community Representative, Physician and other professionals;* Ensures the security and maintains the quality of the nursing act;* Carries out the care and follow-up of the patients for whom he/she is responsible for by implementing the best-established practices;* Prioritize health promotion, disease prevention, education and autonomy as part of its relationships with patients;* Actively participates in activities related to the institution's service offer to clients;* Actively participates in the identification of situations that threaten the quality and safety of care and services, provides solutions to prevent them and contributes to the implementation of improvement plans;* Provides leadership in the professional development of nurses and contributes to the development of clinical protocols;* Contributes to the training and education of PCSNP (Primary care Specialized Nurse Practitioner) students.
Education:
- Master in Nursing Science;
- Holder of Primary Care specialist license;
- Member in good standing of the O.I.I.Q.
Experience:
- One (1) year of experience as a Primary Care Specialized Nurse Practitioner is an asset;
- Experience in northern regions or in a First nation community is an asset;
- Specialized Nurse Practitioner Candidate are eligible.
Knowledge and Abilities:
- Knowledge of and experience with public and community health prevention and promotion related approaches, methods, issues (and in First Nation contexts) being an asset;
- Knowledge of MSSS programs and regulations for first lines services is an asset;
- Teaching abilities;
- Knowledge of Cree culture, and social/health issues in Eeyou Istchee is an asset;
- Knowledge of Eenou/Eeyou Pimaatsiiun healing practices and paradigms is an asset;
- Demonstrate interpersonal, leadership and teamwork skills;
- Excellent critical thinking, organizational and decision-making skills;
- Demonstrate independence, flexibility and empathy.
Language:
- Fluent in English;
- Fluency in Cree or French is an asset.
Other:
- Possibility of on-call periods.
