What will your typical day look like?

The Cloud Architect (Manager) will oversee all technical aspects of Deloitte's Commercial Cloud hosting platform, managing a team of cloud engineers focused on platform engineering and service delivery activities.

This role requires a technical leader who can ensure that the platform architecture continuously enables an evolving set of business strategies and goals, maximizes automation, and keeps pace with industry-leading practices and techniques. The Cloud Architect will also be responsible for ensuring that all environments are consistently and completely documented.

In addition to technical responsibilities, the Cloud Architect will work closely with organizational leaders to co-develop a long-term technology strategy. They will guide and develop a team of engineers focused on day-to-day delivery, ensuring that the platform is scalable, secure, and reliable. The Cloud Architect will also need to have strong communication skills to effectively engage with stakeholders, both technical and non-technical.

Roles and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Design and provide oversight of all engineering activities for Deloitte’s commercial cloud hosting platform in AWS and Azure
  • Optimize the platform architecture and use of automation to achieve and continuously improve required outcomes related to Deloitte’s business strategies
  • Coach, mentor and guide a team of cloud engineers (potentially across multiple geographies) and create a world-class team culture and career destination of choice for rising talent
  • Responsible for overseeing the service delivery of the engineering team, including responsiveness to client requests and issues/outages
  • Collaborate with organizational leadership to review overall platform engineering and roadmap status, operational challenges; collaborate with leadership to plan for and track annual budgets
  • Collaborate directly with application teams and hosting teams to facilitate onboarding to the commercial cloud platform
  • Participate in firm-wide architecture forums and relevant industry working groups and forums to continuously evolve the cloud platform architecture and technology strategy to ensure a leading-class solution
  • Oversee the ongoing maintenance and accuracy of all “as-deployed” and “as-built” documentation
  • Oversee the operational availability of the commercial cloud platform and manage a team to respond to any service delivery disruptions (on-call / available as needed to address significant, unplanned events)
  • Define and oversee the implementation of a controlled engineering and platform deployment approach

In this role you will need:

  • Minimum five (5) years of relevant systems and infrastructure engineering experience focused on AWS and Azure
  • Demonstrated experience in AWS and Azure architecture at large and complex organizations
  • AWS Solution Architect Professional and/or Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert certifications
  • Extensive familiarity with technologies including Okta, Terraform, AzureDevOps, GitHub
  • Knowledge of agile software development practices, CI/CD and release management
  • Knowledge of standard practices related to ISO27001 and SOC2 T2
  • Familiar with cloud-native platform development practices and tooling
  • Focus on team management and people development; able to guide and motivate junior engineers to achieve results in a complex, changing environment
  • Building solid, trust-based relationships with stakeholders
  • Self-starter, and demonstrating flexibility in prioritizing and completing tasks

The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $156,000, and individuals may be eligible to participate in our bonus program.
