Our Purpose and Reconciliation Action Plan:
At Deloitte, we’re driven by a purpose to create meaningful impact by fostering access to knowledge, collaboration, and opportunity. For nearly three decades, we’ve partnered with Indigenous leaders, communities, and organizations to remove barriers and build a sustainable, inclusive future. Our commitment to reconciliation, recognized by our Silver-level certification in the PAIR program from the Canadian Council for Indigenous Business, is integral to everything we do and is guided by our Reconciliation Action Plan.
We are committed to advancing truth and reconciliation by empowering First Nations, Métis, and Inuit (FNMI) Nations in their journey toward economic independence and self-governance through our Nation Building advisory practice. Guided by an FNMI-led approach, we act as integrators, facilitators, and trusted advisors, partnering with Indigenous communities, non-Indigenous governments, and corporate Canada to drive meaningful and lasting change.
Our work with Indigenous Nations focuses on identifying opportunities to enhance administrative and business efficiency. By collaborating with leadership, we develop actionable strategies and implement operational plans that align with their long-term vision for success and prosperity.
We also support corporate entities and non-Indigenous governments in understanding their critical role in Nation Building. By creating Reconciliation strategies and Indigenous engagement plans, we foster deeper connections, mutual understanding, and meaningful collaboration with the communities they serve.
As a Manager in our Nation Building practice, you will oversee the successful delivery of initiatives that support Indigenous communities, organizations and their partners to achieve their long-term vision. Building on your expertise, you will provide guidance to teams and clients while ensuring the quality and timely execution of projects. You will:
- Act as the main point of contact for clients, managing relationships, ensuring alignment with client priorities, and keeping projects on track.
- Manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously, leading cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality outcomes.
- Oversee current-state assessments, strategic planning, and the development of deliverables such as governance frameworks, operational strategies, and transformation roadmaps.
- Demonstrate expertise in governance, strategy, operations, and organizational transformation to support community-led priorities.
- Lead, mentor, and guide junior staff, fostering collaboration and ensuring alignment across teams.
- Manage up by providing structured updates, feedback, and clear timelines to senior leaders, ensuring projects stay on track.
- Resolve challenges, prioritize tasks, and uphold quality standards across all deliverables, acting as the final reviewer before submission to leadership or clients.
- Facilitate working sessions and synthesize discussions into actionable insights and deliverables.
- Support business development efforts, including preparing proposals, project plans, and pricing strategies to grow the Nation Building practice.
This position offers the flexibility to work remotely; however, it’s important to note that some travel may be required to fulfill job responsibilities. The extent and frequency of travel will depend on specific project needs and collaboration requirements.
You are the ideal candidate if you:
- Are preferably Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, Inuk). Non-Indigenous candidates with strong experience working directly with Indigenous communities, including fostering meaningful relationships, respecting cultural protocols, and contributing to community-driven initiatives, are also encouraged to apply.
- Have 7+ years of experience in management consulting and public policy, including managing complex projects and leading cross-functional teams.
- Possess deep experience working with Indigenous communities, including a strong understanding of governance structures, cultural values, traditions, and social dynamics. You excel at fostering respectful and meaningful long-term partnerships while aligning strategies with community priorities.
- Hold a degree in business, public administration, Indigenous studies, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience). An MBA, graduate degree, or professional credential in project management is considered an asset.
- Demonstrate expertise in qualitative and quantitative research approaches within an Indigenous context, strategy development, and organizational change management, with the ability to design and implement solutions aligned with community goals.
- Have proven leadership capabilities, with the ability to navigate ambiguity, manage competing priorities, and maintain high standards of quality across multiple projects.
- Bring experience in business development, including preparing proposals, project plans, and pricing strategies to drive growth and deliver impactful solutions.
- Excel at leading and mentoring teams, fostering collaboration, and ensuring alignment with project goals and deliverables.
- Have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to present complex ideas clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrate the ability to synthesize complex data and information into actionable insights, producing high-quality executive reports tailored to clients and senior leaders.
