General Manager, Human Resources
Effective mid to late August, 2024
Salary range $149,129.00 to $162,029.00 effective September 1, 2021 (under review)
Reporting to the Superintendent of Human Resources & Employee Relations, the General Manager provides professional Human Resources expertise, direction and guidance to the organization as well as managing the day to day operation of the Human Resources Department (including Teacher Personnel, Support Services Personnel, Training and Development, Health Promotion and Wellness, HRIS, and Benefits, etc.). The General Manager provides vision and leadership for developing and implementing initiatives that improve the quality-of-service delivery to all employees. The General Manager participates proactively with other members of the Board’s senior management team in developing and executing strategic plans to optimize the use of the Board’s resources in support of the educational and business objectives of the Board. The General Manager participates in policy and decision making at the senior management level regarding resource allocation, staffing, organizational development, and design.
The ideal candidate will bring to the position:
Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Industrial or Labour Relations, Business Administration or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. C.H.R.L. or C.H.R.E. designation is required.
A minimum of ten (10) years of related generalist experience in the field of Human Resources including at least 5 years of direct management and supervision of mid-management staff in a large Human Resources Department. Experience in the field of education is essential. Experience should include substantive managerial practice in a number of the following specialties: Human Resources, Labour Relations, Business Administration, Human Resources Information Systems, Benefits Administration, Training and Development, Organizational Development and Recruitment and Selection.
Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation, familiarity with HRIS software
Extensive working knowledge of relevant employment legislation
Demonstrated track record of building effective working relationships with the management team and the associations and unions.
Strong report writing and presentation skills.
Proficiency in computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite, Human Resource Information Systems)
Ability to exercise considerable independent judgment, tact and sensitivity in understanding the needs of schools, instructional leaders, senior management, trustees, associations and various Ministries.
Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize and successfully complete projects with conflicting deadlines and urgency.
A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
