Nature of the work

The job of Centre Director involves responsibility for pedagogical and administrative management, the quality of educational services and all the center's programs and resources, with a view to promoting the success of all students and adults, in compliance with the Education Act, the policies of the Centre de services scolaires du Val-des-Cerfs and the policies of the Eastern Townships School Board.

The job involves managing human, financial, material and informational resources, liaising with employment or employability development organizations, managing the development of new ways of organizing training, and managing intake and referral services.

Description of tasks

Under the general management of the two entities (CSSVDC and ETSB), this job involves the following responsibilities in particular:

  • Participate in the development of objectives and policies.  
  • Define center-specific objectives and policies, taking into account the overall policies and objectives of both CSSVDC and ETSB.
  • Establish the programs, division of responsibilities, standards and procedures for implementing their directorate's programs.  
  • Evaluate the results of their directorate's program implementation.  
  • Direct, control and evaluate the performance of personnel under their immediate responsibility. 
  • Establish the budget for their department and ensure expenditure control.  
  • Assist and advise branch managers, as well as other department and facility managers, with respect to the services under their responsibility.
  • Negotiate and conclude memorandums of understanding with partners.
  • Ensure the deployment and achievement of the optimization plan for his/her administrative unit.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or an undergraduate degree in an appropriate field of study, attesting to a university program of at least three years' duration, or employment as a senior or senior executive, with the exception of manager, in a school board;
  • Fluency in both French and English;
  • Eight years' relevant executive experience;
  • Permanent teaching authorization issued by the Minister;
  • Knowledge of the vocational training sector is essential;
  • Graduate university program with a minimum of 30 credits in management relevant to the job of school or center manager;

The selected candidate will undergo a psychometric evaluation.

Working conditions

Conditions of employment are those set out in the Règlement déterminant certaines conditions de travail des cadres des commissions scolaires et du Comité de gestion de la taxe scolaire de l'Île de Montréal. 

  • 30 to 35 days of annual vacation (depending on years of continuous service in the education network);
