Division Occupational Therapist - Probationary part time
We are accepting applications for a part time 0.5 FTE Division Occupational Therapist to be part of our responsive, collaborative and dynamic team at Elk Island Catholic School Division.
Under the supervision and direction of the Director of Inclusive Learning Services, the Division Occupational Therapist will work within a Collaborative Response Model and will be responsible for:
Working collaboratively within the Inclusive Learning Team, Central Learning Services Team, and School Support teams to provide comprehensive support to students, staff, families, and external agencies.
The selection, development, and implementation of strategies and activities to develop fine and visual motor, self-help and sensory/regulation skills.
Conduct periodic re-assessment/evaluation of individual programs and recommendations as needed.
To provide on-going monitoring and documentation of student progress and the effectiveness of recommended strategies and interventions.
Participate in Collaborative Team meetings, Support Plan team meetings, case conferences, family meetings, and medical consultations.
Research and provide consultation regarding adaptive equipment and technical aids.
Qualifications, Skills and Competencies
A license to practice within the province of Alberta, to be a member in good standing with Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).
Possess necessary skills in diagnosis and program intervention, and exhibit excellent interpersonal skills.
Able to work well independently and show initiative.
Self-motivated, and an enthusiastic learner with excellent problem solving skills.
Ability to work as a member of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Valid driver’s license (Travel required).
Pediatric experience is an asset.
Preference will be given to Catholic applicants.
