BI & ETL Engineer
Summary: This is a permanent position, integral part of the IT team and plays a critical role in the DBA team. The BI & ETL Engineer is responsible for designing and creating BI interfaces and ETL processes to OLAP data warehouse, provide level-2 technical support for database programming, perform data analysis, develop forecasting models and developing reports using OBIEE ODI and Oracle DB. This position will also be responsible for patching, upgrading OBIEE, ODI, Oracle DB, creating and adjusting custom reports in OBIEE, creating and adjusting ETL jobs in ODI, optimizing processes, OLAP data structures expansion and changes.
Responsibilities:
OBIEE: Participate in the design of analytics solutions supporting at an Enterprise level;
planning reporting projects to include but not limited to requirements analysis, project scoping, data analysis, and business logic transformation;
changing and optimizing repository layers, models, and subject areas
Collaborate with BI System Analyst to create required reports using reporting tools like OBIEE, BI Publisher; profile data necessary to meet reporting requirements
Design, develop, and support visualization tools including but not limited to dashboards, scorecards, operational and scheduled reports, ad-hoc queries, and decision support
Analyze and optimize queries, review OLAP data structures for tuning overall design
Implement, document, and perform OBIEE administration processes and policies
ODI: Perform detailed data analysis for online analytical processing (OLAP) and associated ETL jobs
Design, implement, troubleshoot, and optimize ETL jobs and related mappings
Provide data cleansing input to application developers, and coach DBAs for ETL job troubleshooting
Document and publish with the team all existing ETL jobs and processes
Oracle DBA: Oracle database development using SQL, and Oracle PL/SQL
Core skills to administer, monitor, and troubleshoot Oracle DBs
Basic knowledge on patching and maintenance tasks on Oracle DBs
Work closely with Data Architect for database schema changes.
Ensure high availability for OBIEE, ODI, DB, through systems administration/support and change management.
Ensure continuous support and maintenance for OBIEE, ODI, and Oracle DBs through fixes, patches, and upgrades, according to business schedules and requirements
Communicate task status, roadblocks, and critical matters to management promptly
Assist level 1 technical support as needed, provide level 2 technical support or open level 3 service requests with support entity or application vendor
Key Qualifications:
BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Ability to define problems, analyze data, establish facts, and quickly draw valid conclusions
5+ years of experience designing, developing, supporting and maintaining enterprise level business intelligence application(s); performing OBIEE maintenance, catalog migration, role based security, repository development and administration
3+ years of experience in designing ETL jobs, preferably with ODI, and associated tasks: troubleshooting, tuning, documentation, migration between environments
3+ years of experience performing Oracle database support, maintenance, and development using PL/SQL and SQL
Desired Qualifications:
Experience in working all or most tasks in RHEL systems, understanding WebLogic and Fusion Middleware, Identity Management concepts, basic Linux tasks and operations
Basic knowledge of Linux operating system, storage systems, networking concepts
Familiarity with agile concepts and methodology
