CERTIFIED ACTIVITY AIDE (Part-Time) - Extendicare Southwood Lakes

Qualified Activity Aides are invited to apply for the above Permanent Part Time Activity Aide Position to work at Extendicare’s 150 -bed long-term care home; located in Southwood Lakes, Ontario.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Successful completion of a degree or diploma in Recreation and Leisure Studies,

Therapeutic Recreation, Kinesiology or related program.

  • Previous experience in Long Term Care setting and knowledge of working with

Geriatric and special needs residents.

  • Ability to read and write English and to understand verbal and written instructions

· Computer knowledge in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Publisher and World Wide Web is an asset.

· Understanding and patience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Implements and evaluates individual and group programs in order to meet the physical, emotional, social, intellectual and spiritual needs of the residents.
  • Maintains program and resident records according to department policy.
  • Active participation in committees and care conferences.
  • Works together with other departments to meet resident needs.
  • Attends in-service education programs when required.
  • Other duties as assigned by Resident Program Manager.
