MAINTENANCE MANAGER

Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain all aspects of hiring and performance management of departmental staff; scheduling; staff development, including identification and delivery of department-specific orientation and training.
  • Supervision of contractors’ work to ensure fulfilment of contractual obligations.
  • Preparation and management of departmental budgets; inventory management and control, including purchase of departmental supplies, equipment, repairs and capital purchases.
  • Maintenance of departmental policy and procedure manuals; full participation in leadership team activities and responsibilities, including participation on teams and committees, and reporting.
  • Contract tendering in consultation with ECI consultants, and with approval of Regional Manager of Support Services.
  • All aspects of management of quality and quantity of services and products provided/ produced by departmental staff.
  • All aspects of departmental safety program management, including preventative maintenance, and repair of equipment.
  • Maintenance of records, statistics, and reports in accordance with ECI and home policies, and all applicable legislation and standards.
  • Accounts Payable & Accounts receivables processing and collection
  • Complete Payroll duties for Maintenance departments
  • Adheres to established policies and procedures regarding quality assurance, fire, occupational health and safety, environment, and infection control.
  • Maintains internal records and prepares internal reports for the Regional Manager of Support Services as required; maintains confidentiality of all financial, personnel and resident data; maintains accounting records
  • All other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3-5 years relevant experience and/or knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, plumbing, carpentry, and heating and ventilation systems. Technical training in building maintenance is preferred.
  • Previous Management and Supervisory experience preferred in a unionized environment
  • Ability to:
    • perform general maintenance tasks i.e. electrical, carpentry, plumbing, painting
    • read and interpret manuals, blueprints related to equipment and systems
    • use a variety of tools
    • read, write and communicate effectively in English
    • problem solve and use project management principles
    • work safely, following established safety practices and procedures
    • Has a solid understanding of the Health and Safety Act
    • Work with various computer systems including excel, word, outlook, teams and other programs
