I am looking for a property accountant for my client who specializes in real estate. This is a 35-hour permanent contract, located near a metro station in the city center.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

- Ensure accurate and timely recording of lease accounting data in Yardi and the financial accounting system.

-Review and interpret leases, prepare lease summaries and related documents for transmission to the accounting department.

- Assist in the preparation of annual operating budgets and produce final reports including monthly and quarterly variance analyses against initial figures for each property

- Assist manager(s) in developing capital budget plan

- Produce month-end closing journal entries (accruals) for each property

- Perform actual vs. budget variance analysis for preparation of monthly and quarterly client reports

- Calculate management and supervision fees related to the progress of construction projects, and complete the necessary documentation for invoicing purposes.

- Account for depreciation expenses on a monthly basis
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and partner reports, as required.

- Support manager and leasing team in analyzing and interpreting management reports and arrears and leasing documentation

- Compile and prepare various working documents for year-end tenant collections

- Support management and administration staff by providing accounting expertise on expense management initiatives. Assist property managers by monitoring cost control projects on a monthly basis to ensure that commitments and budgets are not exceeded.

- Review processes and recommend improvements to establish procedures and processes to increase efficiency and production.

- Establish and maintain quality relationships with operations and Property Management office staff, as well as head office personnel.

- Implement and use performance indicators related to finance and property management activities. Report variances as required

- Perform any other related duties as may be assigned from time to time by the immediate superior.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

- University degree or post-secondary education, preferably in finance, accounting or business administration.

- At least three years' experience in accounting. Experience in the real estate industry is considered an asset

- Thorough knowledge of real estate policies and procedures - required

- Ability to analyze financial data, including investigation, reconciliation and problem-solving techniques

- Proficiency in Office Suite tools, particularly Excel. Experience with Yardi would be an asset

- Autonomy, strong organizational skills, time management skills, adaptability, ability to multi-task, work independently and prioritize to consistently meet deadlines

- Excellent communication and influencing skills to maintain effective relationships

- Ability to communicate operational information to colleagues as well as internal and external customers

- Excellent oral and written communication skills in French and English* (exchange with US head office)
