We are a well-established residential renovation company in Montreal, looking for a Journeyman Carpenter / Jobsite Foreman to join our team. This is a mixed role, where you will spend 75% of your time working as a skilled carpenter and 25% as a jobsite foreman, closely coordinating with the Project Manager. If you have strong carpentry and woodworking skills, verified experience in residential renovation, and the ability to lead a team on-site, we want to meet you!

As a Journeyman Carpenter / Jobsite Foreman, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality residential renovation projects. You will be responsible for performing carpentry, woodworking, and interior system tasks, managing jobsite operations, and ensuring the project stays on schedule, meets quality standards, and adheres to safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carpentry & Woodworking (75%):

    • Perform various tasks including framing, insulation, drywall installation, flooring, cabinetry, trim, and other woodworking tasks as needed.
    • Work with precision and attention to detail to ensure all work adheres to building codes, company standards, and client expectations.
    • Read and interpret plans, drawings, and specifications to execute tasks accurately.
    • Ensure proper installation of structural elements, windows, doors, and other building components.
  • Jobsite Foreman Duties (25%):

    • Oversee daily jobsite operations, ensuring work is done according to the project plan, on schedule, and to required standards.
    • Coordinate with the Project Manager to track project progress, resolve issues, and communicate necessary adjustments to timelines or costs.
    • Supervise and lead a team of subcontractors and workers, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
    • Ensure all safety protocols are followed on-site, providing a secure working environment for all team members.
    • Organize the delivery and management of materials and equipment, ensuring their availability when needed and proper storage.
    • Assist with task scheduling and jobsite logistics to ensure smooth workflow.
    • Ensure the jobsite is clean, organized, and compliant with all local safety and regulatory requirements.
    • Communicate effectively with the Project Manager to report on progress, challenges, and any changes needed on-site.

Qualifications:

  • Journeyman Carpenter certification or equivalent experience in woodworking and residential renovation.
  • Proven experience in residential renovation projects, from demolition to finish work, with a solid portfolio of carpentry, framing, and interior system work.
  • Prior experience as a Jobsite Foreman or in a leadership role on construction sites is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, safety rules, and regulations in Quebec.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Excellent communication skills to coordinate with the Project Manager and subcontractors.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team to ensure all tasks are completed on time and to the highest standards.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changes on the jobsite.
  • Fluent in both French and English.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and meet tight deadlines.
  • Own transportation required.
  • Tools provided.
