Job Qualifications:
The Fort McMurray Catholic School District is currently hiring a 0.5 FTE temporary Welding Instructor - EA 6; Under the direction of and in co-operation with a teacher, for the 2024-2025 school year. The successful Candidate must have a Journeyman’s License in Welding . The temporary part-time position will be 0.5FTE at Father Mercredi Catholic High School.
Duties of teachers may include but, not limited to, the following:
identify students’ individual and collective learning needs
plan and deliver instruction based on student learning needs and special needs
provide a stimulating learning environment in which each student can experience growth and develop to his or her potential
help students learn appropriate knowledge, skills and attitudes.
meet with parents
evaluate and communicate student progress
prepare and implement remedial programs for students requiring extra help
meet with other professionals to discuss individual student needs and progress
volunteer to supervise extracurricular and after-school activities
attend meetings, seminars and in-service training sessions.

What you bring:
Certificate Journeyman Welder
Safety Conscious
CSTS-2020, WHMIS and additional safety qualifications is preferred
Strong relationship building skills
Flexible and adaptable
Organized and able to meet deadlines in accordance with the school schedule
Commitment to education and excited to work with students each day
Instruct /facilitate practical and theoretical components of modules according to curriculum
Demonstrate safe and proper use of equipment and trade procedures
Provide to the supervising teacher assessment and evaluation of students’ practical work and development
Assist teachers in preparation and/or development of modules for instruction
Organize supplies, equipment and instructional resources
Provide support for the use of welding/shop equipment and training material
Ensure that equipment used to support instruction is in working condition
Perform minor maintenance on equipment
Monitor the classroom when the teacher has to leave for brief period
Supervise students in gym, classroom or training stations to ensure a safe and efficient learning environment
Help the teacher supervise students on field trips, if required
Assist in the provision of general supervision inside and outside of schools as directed by School Administration
Attendance and completing reports
Provide other assistance to teachers as required
The successful candidate will be required to provide a Criminal Reference Check and a Vulnerable Sector Check. FMCSD will contact past and present employers for references. All FMCSD employees are expected to be computer literate; this includes fluency with e-mail, Internet and MS Office.
