The Fort McMurray Roman Catholic Separate School Division is seeking a temporary full-time high school dance teacher for the 2024-25 school year who have experience in teaching any or all levels of Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, Pointe, Creative Movement, Hip-Hop, Acro and Jr. Ballet/Jazz.

Qualifications
Must be eligible for Alberta Teacher Certification and hold a Bachelor of Education Degree
Accredited Dance Teaching Certification (R.A.D., S.R.B., C.D.T.A., I.S.T.D., etc…) Program and/or Practical teaching experience
Degree or Diploma in Post Secondary Dance is an asset
Strong relationship building skills
Flexible and adaptable
Organized and able to meet deadlines in accordance with the school schedule
Commitment to education and excited to work with students each day
Possess the ability to coach and mentor the dance assistants
Experience as a choreographer and/or competition judge are assets
Responsibilities
identify students’ individual and collective learning needs
plan and deliver instruction based on student learning needs and special needs
provide a stimulating learning environment in which each student can experience growth and develop to his or her potential
help students learn appropriate knowledge, skills and attitudes.
meet with parents
evaluate and communicate student progress
prepare and implement remedial programs for students requiring extra help
meet with other professionals to discuss individual student needs and progress
volunteer to supervise extracurricular and after-school activities
attend meetings, seminars, and in-service training sessions.
Select appropriate music for class and year end show
Promote a healthy lifestyle while keeping a positive classroom environment
Work with team members to plan events for students and the studio
The successful candidate will be required to provide a Criminal Reference Check and a Vulnerable Sector Check. FMCSD will contact past and present employers for references. All FMCSD employees are expected to be computer literate; this includes fluency with e-mail, Internet and MS Office.
