Desired Qualifications/Skills. The ideal candidate would possess the following background, philosophy, and experience:Possess a Bachelor of Education.(Bachelor of Music an asset)Have a strong music backgroundHave demonstrated leadership in Music in a school setting Have experience classroom teaching in an ECDP- Grade 6 school.Be willing and able to assume a classroom teaching assignment along with that of being a music teacher. Have a strong knowledge of the music curriculum ECDP- Grade 6.Demonstrate a philosophy of the importance of promoting the love of music.Have an ability to design and implement Individual Program Plans.Have demonstrated ability creating a classroom characterized by inclusion, equity and differentiated instruction.Possess superior organizational and interpersonal skills.Have demonstrated support the District's Big 3: Healthy and active schools, environmental stewardship and academic excellence.Have proven themselves to be a team player and a positive staff member.Have Training in The Leader in Me (TLIM) OR be willing to participate in training provided and fully implement and support TLIM at Christina Gordon.Exhibit a strong work ethic and be willing to put in the effort required in the opening of a new school.Be flexible and willing to adapt to the inevitable challenges that will come with the opening of a new school.Be open to new programs and initiatives.Be a reflective practitioner.Recognize the importance of making a strong positive connection with all students, through classroom interactions as well as involvement with students outside the classroom. (ie clubs and teams)Be willing to participate in the school community beyond the classroom.Recognize the importance of promoting the school with parents and in the community.Have skill in involving parents as partners.
