Fort McMurray Composite High School is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our instructional team in the role of Learning Assistance Centre and Jr. High Options/Sr. High CTS Courses Teacher.
Requirements:
Bachelor of Education
Desired Qualifications/Skills:
Able to administer Level B individual assessments (WIAT, Woodcock Johnson, Key Mathand others).
Experience in the coordination of programming for students with special needs in an inclusive environment.
Student centred approach to instruction and teacher-student relationships.
Ability to design, program, and implement instruction for students with special needs.
Supporting students to increase independence, enhance self-esteem and improve social/interpersonal skills.
Ability to process and manage confidential records.
Ability to work with parents, social agencies and support organizations.
Effective organizational skills and classroom management.
Successful experience working with students with a broad spectrum of learning needs.
Recognize the importance of making strong and positive connections with students inside and outside of the classroom in the larger school culture (ie: clubs and teams).
Be a reflective practitioner.
A strong Literacy and Numeracy background.
A willingness to work with parents, social agencies and organizations.
Strong collaborative team player and a positive staff member.
Experience teaching in a junior high and high school setting, with knowledge CTS programs of study.
A strong ability to build relationships with high school students, staff and parents.
Effective organizational and classroom management skills are imperative.
Ability to integrate and use technology in a regular and virtual classroom.
