Operations and Maintenance General Labourer - Band 1
Temporary Position - Night Shift (Monday - Friday, 11 p.m. - 7 a.m.)
November 3, 2024 - March 27, 2025
LOCATION: Division Office
HOURS: 7.5 hours per day
START DATE: November 3, 2024
SALARY: $32.38 + Living Allowance
CLOSING DATE: October 31, 2024
JOB QUALIFICATION:
Toolcat operation experience/certificate an asset.
Bobcat operation experience/certificate an asset.
Landscaping experience (snow removal, shoveling, mowing, lawn care).

OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE GENERAL LABOURER - BAND 1
ROLE SUMMARY
The General Labourer reports to the Director of Operations and Maintenance, or designate, and is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance and repairs tasks in district facilities.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
? Performs, and assists with, a variety of maintenance tasks including duties for all other maintenance positions.
? “ON CALL” duty required on a regular basis. Investigate the nature of the call out, contact the supervisor then/or initiate appropriate action
? Transports and operates equipment and vehicles using proper training techniques and safety procedures.
? Performs outdoor grounds maintenance including snow removal and landscaping.
? Reports any repair issues found in school division facilities or equipment.
EDUCATION
? High School diploma, or equivalent.
? Related experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described.
? Other related work experience in one or more building trades.
? Possess a valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license.
SKILLS / ABILITIES
? Must be physically fit, able to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions.
? Knowledge of methods used in maintenance including basic knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, painting, masonry, grounds-keeping, electrical wiring, and maintenance of hand tools, etc.
? Knowledge to effectively use a variety of hand and power tools.
? Perform a variety of physical labor activities including climbing ladders, bending, kneeling, reaching and standing for long periods of time; lifting and carrying boxes, tools, equipment and materials, confined spaces and at heights, follow oral and/or written instructions.
? Competent in safety rules, practices and procedures.
? Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
? Work independently, and with a work team.
? Good communication skills and proficiency in spoken and written English.
? Computer skills for record keeping and division communication.
WORKING CONDITIONS
? Being prepared to work in all different weather conditions.
? Scheduling and completing work orders in schools around staff and students.
? Changes in scheduled hours may occur; move to night shift or irregular hours during emergencies, inclement weather or as required.
