Position Highlights:

Bring your demonstrated leadership and consultation skills to this exciting opportunity as a Coordinator, Statistics, with Fraser Health's Finance team. This role is responsible for the collection and reporting of the detailed operational statistics within Fraser Health. As a member of the Finance team, you will work in consultation with the Manager, to implement systems and standard industry practices to enable the collection, identification, and integration of various data sources efficiently and consistently for its subsequent analysis and reporting.

 

Build on your education and career experience as you:

  • Responsible for the regular period end statistics reports and bed map for Fraser Health (FH).
  • Identify for collection and reporting appropriate statistics and indicators to assist Finance and operational managers in the explanation of financial variances relative to service delivery.
  • Supervise, establish priorities, assign work and evaluate performance of support staff.
  • Initiate training, demonstrate work methods and handle all matters pertaining to reassignment, hiring or displacement of support staff.
  • Responsible for the ongoing maintenance and collection of detailed operational statistics including automated processes and systems.
  • Develop collection and data entry procedures for the departmental staff.
  • Develop the statistical activity trend for the detailed budget by analyzing appropriate indicators.
  • Responsible for and leads the reconciliation process of operational statistics in the GL to source data and reports.
  • Participate on internal and external committees, as assigned.

  • CPA recognized professional accounting designation and/or university degree in Business, Commerce or Finance
  • Five (5) to seven (7) years' recent, related financial accounting experience in a large health care environment, including one (1) year of supervisory experience
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Detailed Overview

Supporting the Vision, Values, Purpose and Commitments of Fraser Health including service delivery that is centered around patients/clients/residents and families:

The Coordinator, Statistics, is responsible for the collection and reporting of the detailed operational statistics.  Develops work processes and procedures for the statistics staff in accordance with the department's goals and objectives for the ongoing monitoring, evaluating and reporting of statistics. In consultation with the Manager, Statistical Reporting & Analytics, the Coordinator implements systems and standard industry practices to enable the collection, identification, and integration of various data sources efficiently and consistently for its subsequent analysis, summarization and reporting, promoting the strategic use of information technology and leading industry trends to improve business processes.


Responsibilities


  1. Responsible for the regular period end statistics reports and bed map for Fraser Health (FH); identifies for collection and reporting appropriate statistics and indicators to assist Finance and operational managers in the explanation of financial variances relative to service delivery.
  2. Supervises, establishes priorities, assigns work and evaluates performance of support staff; initiates training, demonstrates work methods and handles all matters pertaining to reassignment, hiring or displacement of support staff.
  3. Responsible for the ongoing maintenance and collection of detailed operational statistics including automated processes and systems; develops collection and data entry procedures for the departmental staff.
  4. Develops the statistical activity trend for the detailed budget by analyzing appropriate indicators; advises Finance to ensure that statistical budgets are adjusted as needed to incorporate the impact of expected changes.
  5. Responsible for and leads the reconciliation process of operational statistics in the GL to source data and reports; provides high level analysis of activity variances and statistical indicators as part of regular and ad hoc reporting to the FH Executive, Board and outside agencies.
  6. Provides advice, interpretation and resource support to Finance in the application and use of the statistical collection and reporting system; provides support in the analysis and costing of new programs and program changes; acts as a resource to the organization by preparing and presenting educational and support materiel on statistics.
  7. Ensures that the Manager, Statistical Reporting & Analytics, is aware of significant statistical adjustments, issues and trends.
  8. Ensures that the statistics collected and reported are consistent with MIS guidelines; represent FH on Ministry advisory committees or working groups dealing with MIS guideline revisions and issues.
  9. Implements short and long term work planning and control procedures to ensure critical period and year-end reporting deadlines are met; reviews financial reports against applicable benchmarks/standards and prepares justification analysis in case of financial anomalies and/or reports.
  10. Implements an effective quality assurance program to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction and to identify any gaps in service and areas for improvement; reviews information and implements changes as required to meet operational, departmental, legislative and statutory requirements.
  11. Participates in strategic planning support and change management services by assisting the Manager in discussions on projects that include confidential initiatives such as the allocation of budget, restructuring of programs/services and significant impact on staff makeup and composition.
  12. Participates on internal and external committees, as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

CPA recognized professional accounting designation and/or university degree in Business, Commerce or Finance.


Five (5) to seven (7) years' recent, related financial accounting experience in a large health care environment, including one (1) year of supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
