We are currently looking to fill a Casual opportunity for Respiratory Aide at Royal Columbian Hospital located in New Westminster.

Detailed Overview

Collects, cleans, sterilizes, assembles, and distributes respiratory supplies and equipment to/from all patient care areas in accordance with established procedures; maintains supplies and equipment inventory and orders supplies as required.
Responsibilities


  1. Retrieves and cleans designated respiratory equipment from all user areas utilizing cold decontamination methods.
  2. Assembles, packages and delivers respiratory equipment and supplies to all patient care areas.
  3. Checks portable oxygen tank levels daily and replaces tanks as required.
  4. Assembles all ventilator circuits, auxiliary breathing circuits and therapy equipment.
  5. Reports and/or removes from use any malfunctioning equipment or supplies; replaces worn parts such as Y connectors and discoloured tubing.
  6. Takes phone messages concerning patient treatments and lab results for delivery to staff members concerned.
  7. Carries out routine cleaning of work and storage area.
  8. Maintains and orders inventory of respiratory supplies as required.
  9. Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Graduation from a recognized program in Sterile Supply processing, plus one year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate and effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
