Job Summary
Are you a bright, self-starting senior communications consultant with experience and interest in digital and technical projects? We’re looking for you to join our team as a senior consultant, digital and corporate communications.
In this role, you will work with various project teams and communication professionals including the communications leads for digital transformation and digital communications. Your focus will be on providing strategic and tactical communications support to meet the user needs of our internal and external audiences.
One key project will involve overseeing content governance, integration and quality between our health care services directory for the digital front door and enterprise Fraser Health websites. Additionally, you will plan, implement and evaluate communication strategies for a range of digital transformation projects, such as our innovative digital health care navigator, and Digital Twin and Digital Front Door platforms. You will also work on integrating new and emerging channels into our existing online infrastructure.
Strong writing skills, demonstrated excellence in digital communications planning and user experience design, and the ability to advise senior leaders are essential.
Familiarity with generative artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, emerging technology, tools and digital communications trends is essential. Strategic thinking, poise under pressure, ability to work with a variety of stakeholder types and a dedication to teamwork will factor in your success.
Some of your skills include:
- Demonstrated professional writing ability across a broad range of media, including web and digital environments.
- Strategic communications consulting, using analytical skills to anticipate and mitigate communications issues, identify solutions and enhance user experience.
- Ability to manage complex digital projects, including migrations, integrations, and upgrades; with knowledge of agile and traditional development methodologies.
- Experience with digital content governance, generative AI and information architecture.
- Proficiency with a variety of content management system (CMS) platforms. Sitecore, Vertos, SharePoint and Bonsai experience is an asset.
- Ability to quickly understand custom digital environments to support strategic internal and external usage and improvements, while following operational best practices.
- Understanding front-end and back-end web development practices, deployment pipelines and staging environments to ensure seamless updates.
- Familiarity with design and accessibility principles to optimize user experience and maintain brand standards across devices and digital environments.
- Familiarity with analytics tools and search engine optimization (SEO) strategies to track and improve performance metrics and support data-driven decisions.
- Deadline management.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work cross-functionally with diverse teams.
- Ability to build and maintain strategic alliances with both internal and external partners. Adherence to ethical, professional image and respectful workplace policies.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of communication concepts, best practices and technical skills required for effective communication with patients, families and others receiving health services.

Reporting under the Virtual Health Executive Director with functional, day-to-day reporting to the Manager or Director, Corporate Communications, this position works in close collaboration with the Digital Twin Project Manager, Senior Communications Consultant (Digital Transformation portfolio) and relevant stakeholders in the development and implementation of communication strategies related to a variety of digital and technical projects, including development, integration and evolution of the Digital Front Door, Digital Twin, virtual health services and enterprise websites.
Responsibilities
- Supports implementation and evaluation of communications strategies, in partnership with the senior consultant for digital transformation communications, ensuring alignment with existing digital channels, digital patient experience strategy and Fraser Health’s brand standards and writing style guide.
- Attends meetings with project teams/project leads to anticipate communications needs and ensure integration with existing communications tools such as websites and other channels.
- Writes, edits and reviews language for user experience.
- Manages content migration, integration and governance structures across channels.
- Creates communications strategies and tactical plans, consulting on product development for marketing campaigns and identifying cross-promotion opportunities across other programs, services and communications channels.
- Seeks ways to improve the online user experience, working collaboratively with colleagues on web best practices, information architecture, usability, etc.
- Provides senior-level communication advice to stakeholders on the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of strategic communication strategies that support digital transformation projects.
- Conducts communication research and trend analysis; assessing online trends and conventions, using insights to create, implement and assess communication strategies to engage internal and external audiences.
- Writes, edits and produces various internal/external communications materials; ensures overall quality, consistency and effectiveness of complex and/or confidential communication materials.
- Delivers high-level of customer service internally and externally to support relationship cultivation and engagement with key stakeholders.
- Sets measurable goals and objectives and regularly tracks and reports against them to determine effectiveness of marketing and communication efforts, analyzing performance to inform future strategies.
- Leads communication projects, from planning through execution and evaluation, considering factors such as audience characteristics, corporate vision and strategy, industry trends, available budget and resources/technology, and potentially sensitive or confidential issues.
- Consults with teams managing digital channels (e.g. intranet, internet, newsletters) to ensure alignment with broader digital communications strategies.
- Oversees internal and external suppliers involved in communications projects, managing the strategic development, execution, evaluation and budget of campaigns, and ensuring suppliers and internal clients adhere to corporate graphic standards and other standards and requirements.
- Collaborates on digital content, events and programs to promote a positive corporate image and organizational strategies in health service delivery.
- Anticipates potential issues and collaborates with appropriate leadership to respond appropriately.
- Contributes to the Communications and Public Affairs team to support Fraser Health Objectives and Key Results.

Provides consultation to internal stakeholders at all levels of leadership in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of strategic communication strategies that support Fraser Health-wide internal/external programs and initiatives. Develops and manages implementation and evaluation of all aspects of Fraser Health''s digital communications to enhance stakeholder engagement with Fraser Health, including oversight of digital assets such as social media channels, newsletters, and websites. Provides leadership within Communications & Public Affairs regarding digital communication policy updates, education and promotion. Evaluates digital communications trends; writes and produces various internal/external communications materials; ensures overall quality, consistency and effectiveness of complex and/or confidential communication materials.
Responsibilities
- Establishes and maintains publication standards for digital channels such as social media accounts, newsletters and websites.
- Oversees the management of channels and content, including developing and maintaining practice standards for the digital communications team.
- Provides strategic communications counsel to stakeholders by conducting appropriate supporting communication research and analysis; assessing online and social-media trends and conversations, implementing and evaluating communication strategies to engage internal and external audiences.
- Collaborates with the Communication & Public Affairs team to engage employees, physicians, volunteers, patients/clients and the community to support cultural renewal and promote a positive corporate image by facilitating an open dialogue and understanding of important issues, challenges, opportunities and strategic directions.
- Develops Fraser Health's digital communications strategy to advance Fraser Health strategic priorities through means such as public engagement, strategic communications and/or promotional plans.
- Manages projects and collaborates with internal/external partners and suppliers to carry strategies and project plans forward from goal-setting through to execution including the implementation and evaluation stages by considering factors such as audience characteristics, corporate vision and strategy, industry trends, available budget and resources/technology and potentially sensitive or confidential issues.
- Consults to other business areas responsible for maintaining digital vehicles such as the intranet, internet and internal newsletters to ensure alignment with digital communications strategy; coordinates and evaluates external and internal suppliers involved in communications-related projects including writing, language translation, graphic design, web design, printing, photography, video production/editing, signage and site maps; oversees assigned project budget and deadlines, selects and ensures suppliers and internal clients adhere to corporate graphic standards and other standards and requirements; ensures overall quality, consistency and effectiveness of communication materials; provides recommendations to the Director, Corporate Communications regarding related project expenditures.
- Promotes appropriate adoption of the digital communications policy and recommends updates to the Corporate Identity and Brand Standards, wayfinding protocol and other policies and processes.
- Provides consultation and coordinates product development for marketing campaigns, and participates in the planning for cross-promotion of issues, stories and content with other department publications.
- Collaborates with other members of the team in the planning and coordination of digital content, events and programs to promote a positive corporate image and organizational strategies in health service delivery; develops appropriate action plans including setting objectives, coordinating appropriate internal spokespeople (or online representatives), preparing key messages; determines appropriate social media outlets and evaluates results; anticipates potential communication/media issues and collaborates with the Director, Public Affairs to respond appropriately.
- Participates on various external, regional, local and program-related committees to provide strategic electronic communications counsel and support, as required.
- Provides work direction and assigns digital communication requests to Consultant and/or Coordinator, Corporate Communications as appropriate; oversees and checks assigned work; provides input into performance and hiring.
Education and Experience
University degree in Communications, Digital Communications and/or related discipline, supplemented with five (5) to seven (7) years' recent related experience in a communications role in a large public sector, health care and/or similarly complex organization, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
