Role Summary

Reporting to the Recreation and Leisure Leadership Team, this position is responsible for promoting a fun and relaxing environment for our guests. Facilitating recreation activities, issuing sports equipment and handling rentals are some of the main duties. They are responsible for light housekeeping around all Recreation areas and assisting with guest requests as required.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and facilitate games, activities, crafts, and campfires
  • Responsible for the supervision of participants
  • Maintain safety and security of children and adults participating in recreational activities
  • Be knowledgeable about programs available and help promote them to guests
  • Accountable for proper registration, waiver completion and payment for recreation activities
  • Promote a fun and relaxing atmosphere for guests in all recreational activities and areas by expressing an upbeat and enthusiastic attitude
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of all recreation areas by wiping down equipment, picking up garbage, and raking the beach sand
  • Provide information to guests about available recreation facilities, activities, lessons, and equipment
  • Issue Resort recreation equipment to guests by following internal procedures and explaining safety protocol
  • Explain and enforce the rules and regulations of the recreation facilities for the safety and welfare of guests
  • Respond to guest and department inquiries with respect to programs, activities, and services
  • Conduct inventory of supplies, materials and equipment and inform leader of low supply items
  • Welcome and acknowledge each guest with a smile, eye contact and a friendly verbal greeting using the guests’ names when possible
  • Responsible for the set-up and daily reservation management of pool cabanas
  • Ensure all pool loungers and beach chairs are clean and orderly
  • Assist guests with chairs, tables, or umbrellas
  • Communicate guest requests to leaders
  • Perform reception duties, sanitization, and equipment orientation at FH Fit
  • Assists in the daily maintenance of equipment and recreational areas, such as clearing the skating rink, inflating bike tires and sports balls
  • Ensure uniform, nametags and personal appearance are clean, hygienic, professional and in compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Compliance with all safety regulations of assigned tasks, and ensure a clean and safe working environment with active participation in the health and safety program
  • Adhere to all environmental policies and programs as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Work experience in the hospitality industry within a fitness environment an asset
  • Degree or diploma in recreation, physical education or a closely related field an asset
  • 1-2 years of experience in a recreation environment
  • Current Standard First Aid & CPR ‘C’ certification
  • HIGH FIVE PHCD Certificate an asset
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and works with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be extremely responsible with integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Required to move, lift, carry, pull and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance
  • Significant exposure to varying weather conditions
  • Stand, sit or walk for an extended period or for an entire shift
  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting and pulling
  • Move over sloping, uneven or slippery surfaces
