Role Summary

The Starbucks Lead will assist the Starbucks leadership team in executing store operations during scheduled shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible on a scheduled basis for the opening and closing of the store and all related tasks
  • Lead shift briefings and delegate tasks
  • Greet guests as they arrive at the Starbucks outlet and inquire into their orders
  • Provide quality beverages, whole bean, and food products consistently for all guests by adhering to Starbucks standard
  • Maintain a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep store operating to standard and to set a positive example for the team
  • Assist guests by presenting and explaining the coffee drink menu and answering questions
  • Communicate information to Starbucks leadership so that the team can respond as necessary
  • Assist with new Colleague training by positively reinforcing successful performance and giving respectful and encouraging coaching as needed
  • Create a positive learning environment by providing clear, specific, timely and respectful coaching and feedback to Colleagues on shift to ensure operational excellence and to improve partner performance
  • Execute store operations during scheduled shifts
  • Organize opening and closing duties as assigned
  • Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs
  • Ensure that any complaints are resolved in a positive manner keeping guests happy and ensure recurring business
  • Ensure that Starbucks merchandising and signing standards are followed
  • Handle payment transactions in an efficient manner
  • Conduct cash management including the distribution of monetary gratuities and counting cash floats
  • Partake in weekly and monthly inventory tasks as assigned
  • Compliance with all safety regulations of assigned tasks, and ensure a clean and safe working environment with active participation in the health and safety program
  • Adhere to all environmental policies and programs as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Food Handlers Certification
  • Previous experience in a retail or coffee shop environment
  • Previous leadership experience an asset
  • Cash handing experience required, including the use of point of sales systems
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills
  • Must be computer literate. Preferred candidate will have previous experience with point-of-sale software, Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and works with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be extremely responsible with integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Required to move, lift, carry, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance
  • Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period or for an entire shift
  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, and pulling
