The Position:
Garden Valley School Division invites applications for the position of Indigenous Education Coordinator effective September 2, 2025.
Garden Valley School Division seeks an Indigenous Education Coordinator with a strong understanding of Indigenous culture, history and traditions. The Coordinator will provide support to schools to promote the learning and achievements of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit learners by helping educators to incorporate Indigenous cultures and identities into their teaching and practices. The Coordinator will work to increase awareness and understanding among Indigenous and non- Indigenous educators and students about Indigenous Peoples' histories, cultures, and knowledge systems. The role of Coordinator is 50% with the remaining 50% to be assigned based on the qualifications of the selected candidate and needs of the Division. The division would consider filling this position as a 0.50 FTE (half time) role with retaining the Indigenous Education Coordinator assignment exclusively.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A Bachelor of Education Degree
- Hold, or be eligible to hold, a Manitoba Teaching Certificate
- An ability to promote and support cultural awareness
- Preferably coursework in the field of Indigenous history, culture and/or languages
- Preferably experience working with Indigenous learners and implementing programming to support Indigenous education
