Overview:
We are now hiring for a FULLTIME (Permanent) Licensed Building Maintenance Person (Millwright 433A) - all shifts, to work in our flight kitchen/operations located on the grounds of Toronto Pearson International Airport in Mississauga.
A Licensed Building Maintenance Person (Millwright 433A) is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, healthy environment. This individual will perform checks of mechanical room and handle garbage as well as respond to any emergencies; interact with contractors and building residents. The successful person must have the ability to paint and do touch ups; follow and improve procedures, follow up on requests; ability to perform small repairs in the common areas; perform ongoing prevention maintenance; enforce rules and regulations of the building, give recommendations to solve and improve a situation.
Own transportation is an asset as public transport is limited in the area.
This position is represented by a labour Union and is covered by one or more collective bargaining agreement/s.
Responsibilities:
- Work 8 hours rotative shifts that will include weekdays, weekends, holidays and special events
- Works overtime when required and on-call rotation
- Arrive to work on-time, must be punctual
- Pass a criminal background check
- Complete paperwork
- Responsible for administration, leasing and cleaning, reporting all deficiencies, maintenance requirements, vandalism and care taking supply inventory to the Facilities Manager as required
- Getting familiar with every single room in the building
- Communicate with supervisors and co-workers
- Follow directions
- Work as a member of a team as well independently on your own
- Must have a discipline free and excellent attendance record
- Must understand and adhere to Health & Safety guidelines
- Compliance with Attendance Policies
- Ability to obtain required security clearance & AVOP (Airside Vehicle Operators Permit)
- Demonstrated working knowledge of HACCP
- Supply and maintain own tools
- Update and maintain daily log and service documents and reports
- Attend and participate in regularly scheduled service and safety meetings
- Complete internal work orders and communicate with colleagues and management
- Maintain inventory
- Plans, organizes workflow, mentors apprentices, and communicates with the Facilities Manager
- Upholds company policies and safety standards
- Responds to repair service calls as needed
- Monitoring hallways and common areas for repair needs
- Installing electrical outlets & light fixtures
- Installing doors, door handles & knobs
- Installing sinks
- Plaster and paint work
- Removing excess furniture
- Maintain compactor room
- Changing compactor bins
- Sweeping/Cleaning common areas
- Replacing light bulbs
Knowledge and Skills:
- Excellent communicator (oral and written), who demonstrates sound judgment, tact, and works well in high-pressure situations.
- Ability to work independently, organizes work to ensure full proficiency and productivity is achieved
- Ability to handle high volume of work and maintain confidentiality
- Must have excellent attention to detail
- Must be able to multi-task
- Able to adapt to change with sometimes little notice.
- Self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work in an environment that encourages and fosters teamwork, participation, creativity, honesty and mutual respect.
- Knowledge of safe lifting techniques, as regular and repetitive heavy lifting (approx. 50lbs) is required.
- Ability to work shift work
- Read, write and follow specifications and guidelines in English

Environmental Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Will be exposed to temperature changes and noise
- Subject to cold temperatures (ranging from +10 degrees Celsius to at or below 0-degrees Celsius)
- Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move product, equipment and supplies up to fifty (75 lbs.) pounds
- This is a physically demanding position - Regularly stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during shifts of 8+ hours
- CSA approved safety shoes
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Must have valid 433A - Millwright License
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- Certificate of Grade 12 completion
- At least one (1) year of maintenance/operations experience is required preferably in a large plant operation
- Previous experience with inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, replacing, installing, adjusting, maintaining and documenting plant operations building maintenance
