Schedule: 37.5 hours from Monday to Friday

Reporting to the QHSE Director of Canada, the HSE Specialist at the Lapointe plant plays a crucial role and works closely with the Lapointe plant team.

HSE Task Description:

  • Lead the near-miss, incident, and accident investigation process.
  • Conduct health and safety risk analysis.
  • Maintain and share health & safety best practices by collaborating directly with operators and maintaining a strong presence on the floor.
  • Facilitate meetings for the Plant Health and Safety team.
  • Analyze future health and safety training needs and remain up to date with government and organizational training requirements. Update our training matrix to ensure continuous training tracking and maintain training and development records.
  • You will be responsible for leading and maintaining ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications at your plant. This includes conducting and assisting with internal and external audits.
  • Collaborating with the QA manager and plant management team to support the maintenance of ISO 9001.
  • Stay updated on HSE laws and requirements to ensure compliance with HSE programs, procedures, and regulations. Meet with regulatory inspectors during facility inspections as necessary.
  • Maintain our HSE programs, procedures, and rules in accordance with corporate requests.
  • Complete corporate reports:
  • HSEDM (monthly environmental, health, and safety report)
  • PIRS - Prysmian Incident Recording System - (input near-misses, first aid incidents, accidents, or any relevant information into Prysmian’s computer system).
  • Lead the update of the PSSE (health program). You will align with programs that promote team member engagement and behavior-based safety processes to foster a Zero & Beyond culture, working closely with the plant leadership team.
  • Build an emergency response team.
  • Additional Tasks: Participate in other key QHSE initiatives and tasks assigned by the QHSE Director.

Who We Are Looking For (Education and Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree, diploma, or certificate in HSE or a related field combined with relevant experience in an industrial environment, at least 3-5 years. Experience with ISO systems would be an asset.
  • Language skills: Advanced French and basic English (spoken and written). As Prysmian is a global group, the job requires communication with colleagues outside Quebec and Canada.
  • Proficiency in technologies such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and other standard computer applications.
