About the role

The Maintenance Supervisor will oversee the maintenance operations at our head office and distribution center, ensuring the facility and equipment are well-maintained and fully operational. This role involves developing and implementing preventative maintenance plans, supervising a team of maintenance technicians and housekeeping, and coordinating with vendors and contractors to ensure the seamless operation of all warehouse equipment (Conveyor, Lift Trucks, Racking, etc.) and building infrastructure (HVAC, Electrical, plumbing, Grounds, etc.). You will also maintain the expense budget and be responsible for recommending and submitting Capital Requests, support additional locations when required, and look for ways to reduce costs and assist National Facilities Manager. 

Responsibilities

 

Preventative Maintenance Planning and Scheduling (25%)

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive preventative maintenance plan for all equipment and facilities.
  • Schedule and oversee regular maintenance tasks to ensure equipment longevity and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs

     

Vendor and Contractor Management (25%)

  • Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and contractors for various maintenance services.
  • Participate in contract negotiations and manage service agreements to ensure cost-effective and high-quality service.
  • Coordinate and supervise the work of external service providers to ensure timely and efficient completion of projects.

     

Facility infrastructure and Operations equipment Maintenance (25%)

  • Ensure all distribution center equipment, including conveyor systems, forklifts, and other machinery, is maintained and in good working order.
  • Identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations, conducting regular safety audits and risk assessments.
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of HVAC system to ensure optimal performance and energy efficiency.
  • Conduct regular inspections and coordinate with HVAC service providers for preventative maintenance and emergency repairs.
  • Respond to after-hours Emergency repairs when required or when it impacts warehouse operations

     

Team Leadership and Development (15%)

  • Supervise and support a team of maintenance technicians and housekeeping, providing training and development opportunities.
  • Assign tasks, monitor performance, and ensure high standards of work quality and productivity.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting safety and continuous improvement.

 

Budget Management (10%)

  • Track and control maintenance expenses, identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on maintenance activities, costs, and performance metrics.
  • Creating and submitting Capital Requests

     

What qualifications do I need?

  • College diploma in Facilities Management, or a related field.
  • 3 years of experience in maintenance management, preferably in a distribution or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, mechanical and electrical maintenance, and preventative maintenance practices.
  • Proven experience in managing vendors and contractors.
  • Ability to multi-task in diverse areas such as technical implementations, associate programs administration and process analysis.
  • LEAN Project Management is an asset
  • Excellent communication, problem solving and people management skills
  • Ability to work after-hours when required for building or equipment emergencies
