we are seeking a WELLNESS MENTOR to join our

MHCB Team!

Grasslands Public Schools is seeking a Wellness Mentor to join our Innovations Team. Mental Health Capacity Building projects are grant funded through Alberta Health Services to provide school-based addiction and mental health promotion and prevention to children, youth, and families. Working as part of school-based and project-based team, the successful candidates will develop and deliver developmentally appropriate, evidence-based programming that meets the needs of the project mandate and of the school. This position will require a Wellness Mentor that is able collaborate with families, the school staff, as well as other community agencies, to provide supports and eliminate barriers to success. The Wellness Mentor will deliver programming to both large and small groups, in community settings with a focus on increasing knowledge, building skills, and fostering abilities to better mental health and wellness.

Job Duties:

organize and deploy a wide variety of intervention strategies and skill building resources to clients;

develop and implement classroom Universal Mental Health Programs that is specific to each school’s needs;

actively participate in recreational/leisure activity with clientele;

deliver programming and initiatives through public speaking format;

identify and utilize community resources to meet with or enhance persons served;

deliver services that may go outside of regular operating hours; and

required to travel between schools to provide service.

Preferred Education & Experience:

Post-secondary Education or Relevant Training health or social sciences field preferred.

Proven experience in addiction and mental health services.

Experienced in working with diverse and multicultural populations.

Minimum 2 years’ experience working with children and adults in large and small group settings.
